I have the newest iPhone and the capability of 5G. I work all over the GTA (Brampton to Pickering, Toronto to Barrie) and it doesn’t matter, where I am it is rare to have full service! My service is slow and takes time to load.. half the time my phone gets kicked down to LTE or 3G.. I’m wondering, where does bell actually offer 5G? Small pockets? Specific parks maybe. I am finding 5G way worse than LTE was. Bell no longer has the infrastructure they once had.

I have switched over from TELUS to Bell a few months ago and I've noticed that the reception is horrible. I can barely use my data anywhere I go, and most times its showing as 3G or LTE but doesn't load anything. I live in richmond hill and typically when I try to use my data I'm in the city or in the GTA. I'm not going anywhere that would be expected to have poor reception. Sometimes when I'm on calls I can barely put sentences together without the person on the line saying they cant hear me or I cant hear them.
I have several other family and friends who have also switched to Bell when they had the promotion running and they all say the same thing about their experience. What is going on and is there any hopes for it getting better?
It has started to inconvenience me to the point where I am starting to look to swap to other carriers which I would hate to do as I had to go through a credit check to join Bell and now ill have to do another one to switch again. Extremely disappointed in the quality of Bell's lines. I thought they were supposed to be one of the best.

We recently switched to bell cells from Roger’s where we had no problems. We switched to bundle our internet, tv, home phone with new iPhone 15s. Now we have constant dropped calls in and around the Bradford area. We’ve taken the phone for a new sim, switched from 5g to lte to auto and none of this helps . Constantly have 1 bar, two if lucky. Bell has checked the phone and say nothing is wrong. Must be a weak signal. We don’t live in the boom docks here. This is a populated area and service is expensive for this poor quality. Wishing we had not switched from Rogers!

I recently switched from Rogers to Bell for my cell phone service. Since then, I've been experiencing terrible signal issues within GTA. I'm using a 14 Pro Max on Bell's 5G network, but the internet is extremely slow (especially Snapchat) and phone calls poor connection, other person can't hear me or don’t receive any forwarding calls. What a NIGHTMARE! Is anyone else having this issue? I can't wait to leave Bell.

Odd. Telus and Bell share towers in many parts of eastern Canada. Did you change phone, by chance?

It's been literally one month since I ported my services from Telus (whom I was with for over 10yrs) to Bell. The port was strictly due to a great price...now I completely understand why. I'd have better reception with a mvno side brand mom and paps provider than the big Bell.
In the last 30 days with Bell I've over 30 dropped or no service calls. I can't even make a phone call for more than 30seconds without the service cutting out. It's actually downright ridiculous at this point.
In the 10+ years with Telus I can literally count on one had the amount of dropped calls I've had.
I live in the heart of downtown Toronto in which cell towers are literally everywhere. There's absolutely no excuse other than the terrible Bell service.
I've contacted the support teams multiple times and final one person got back to me (left a voicemail because it didn't even ring as it went straight to voicemail due to the non-existent cell signal). The voicemail left said that it is a known issue in the area with one of the towers and Bell is working on resolving. For 30days?
How can Bell whom shares towers with Telus be so absolutely and utterly terrible in terms of reception. Makes absolutely no sense and Bell is satisfied with this poor service.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. My Roger’s service had weakened where I spend weekends camping so I switched to Bell, they assured me there were lots of bell towers nearby. Now I can hardly get a signal or make a call. Even texts won’t send and i am often getting NO SERVICE. Best day I have 2 bars of 3G or 1 bar LTE. Becomes a safety issue if I need to make a call in an emergency. Is 5G even working?

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, sales people will say anything for a sale. A little research may help understand why you might have poor cell service where you camp or where you live.
Start with Bell's own coverage map. https://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Our_network_coverage You can remove layers to determine where various services are. Where is 5G? This will tell you. In Algonquin Park, for example, there is no 5G service at all except in one spot along #60. There is no service whatsoever north of #60 until you get north of the park boundary, Highway #17 and the Ottawa River. The same is true of the Bruce Peninsula and east of Peterborough until you get close to Ottawa.
The next step is to look at a cellular site map. https://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html This will tell you where the closest cell sites are. This gives tower locations and frequencies. This will verify a salesperson's pitch that "we have lots of cell sites!"
The third factor is that cell traffic is often limited by technical issues. While cellular sites are fed by fibre optics, traffic can be limited by the fibre feed. This is especially true as people use cell phones to watch videos and other high bandwidth activities.
In summary, when outside of urban areas you will not have the level of cell service you have in urban areas. On the other hand, if you are close to a cell tower site and there is not much cellular traffic, you might get blazing fast speeds that might be better than in urban areas.
While this doesn't solve your issue, I hope this helps to understand the nature of cellular service and why these issues are more common than sales people would like to admit.

My cell service is out in Hockley Ontario. I don't see anywhere online that you can find out what's going on or what other areas it is out in. Any ideas?

Thank you Bellkris.
I'm not sure what additional information I can provide. We had 4 different phones and all had the same issues at the same locations.i had provided the gps location for each area that the calls dropped.
As noted before we did not have this issue for 15 plus years but now it is an issue with our Bell mobility phones.
The only thing I can think is something has change at bell's end.

Location - Dixie and Countryside
The bar on my cellphone has been extremely poor for at least 3 months. Is there an issue with the reception or phone tower?

Thank you for your question. There are many reasons for low signal indicators including tower load, tower connections, local geography, your own location with respect to towers and more. Cell providers continue to upgrade their networks, but this can be a significant project and investment, often taking months.

Both mine and my wife's phones are excruciatingly slow. Multiple speed tests show 2mbps down and less than 1mbps upload. On top of that, my internet is down (I'm with distributel but still bell fiber). Is something going on ? I'm in vaughan but not seeing anything about service disruptions.

Thank you for your question. With respect to your Internet service, have you run the Virtual Repair Tool on the MyBell web page? It may or may not work with Distributel.

There are two new roads with homes in the Municipality of West Grey and the majority of homeowners are seniors. Seniors SHOULD have access to 911 without having to use wifi. When calling through wifi emergency services can not see where the caller is located. Can BELL erect a tower that will proved coverage in this area? If there are plans to expand coverage between Hanover ON and Durham (town of) ON, when is it scheduled? I am very concerned for single seniors who will eventually have need of emergency services. (Not to mention the less important frustration of not having a signal to maintain telephone contact with friends, family and medical providers.)

While I don’t work for Bell, I do work in West Grey and am very familiar with the area you describe. The issue is geography. The hilly terrain (the hills of Bentick) you describe is not good for cellular signals. In the case of wifi internet, that is a provider matter. Bell has no fibre in the area.
