Hi there @MHK, and welcome to the Community.

It sounds like the issue you're experiencing is specific to WhatsApp, and not with your Bell Mobility services. Have you attempted to verify your phone number with WhatsApp with their Call Me option? It's specifically offered for WhatsApp users who are unable to complete verification via text message. You can read more on WhatsApp's support page for verificationOpens in a new tab or window

If you're having issues receiving text authentication in general, try sending a text message to the short code 28849 with either the word INFO or HELP. This should reset the 2FA routing to your device. The routing reset may take a few hours to complete. If an answer is received from INFO or HELP, then no action is needed and your text authentication is set properly and you will need to contact the sender for further verifications.

Try that out, and keep us posted.

The answer was very simple! Somehow this number form my Financial Institution was blocked within my cell. The Bell help line made me send a message to the number 28849 with the text: "help". That is when we realized that this number was blocked in my cell. It works now. However, if I would not have known this number (my husband received the code, while I did not), I would not have had the solution to solve this troubling issue.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

When you set up two-factor authentication on Facebook, you were asked to choose one of three security methods:

If you're not receiving your text message (SMS) verification codes, have you checked to see if you may have turned off text messages from Facebook. Learn how to turn text messages (SMS) back on.

How are you logging in to Facebook? Are you using the Facebook App or logging in to Facebook using a web browser on your device?
Have you tried logging in to Facebook using a different device or method of login?

Please check out the following suggestions:
  • If you are using the app, have you tried uninstalling & reinstalling the app?
  • SMS codes can sometimes take time to arrive. Check your phone again in a while.
  • If you are logged in from another browser or device, check your notifications. You may be able to approve this login from there.
  • Rebooted your device?
  • Have you cleared your cache & cookies?
  • Verified your device / web browser is up to date?
  • Have you turned off Facebook 2FA & reset?
  • Have you checked out your Facebook account Privacy & security settings?  Cleared your devices?
  • Reset your two-factor authentication by turning it off & then back on from your Security and Login Settings.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Take care.

Hi,

I am not receiving a verification code from an American government site. I have been able to receive a verification code from this site multiple times in 2022, but not receiving one now. I can receive verification codes from Bell.

Things I have tried:

  • A hard reset
  • toggling on/off airplane mode
  • reset password
  • removed all blocked callers from my phone

Hey there @Lorraine

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post.

I wanted to start by saying great post. Have you tried the mentioned trick above on this thread?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

When trying to log into my bank or CRA account the text message from them will not come through on my Iphone. The code they send you to login. I recently switched providers to Bell and ever since the switch (3 days now) won't work.

I tried the text message 2FA and still will not work. I have also called Bell a few times and no one seems to know how to fix it. Just weird because it worked fine with the other provider 😞

Hey there @Kerri75 ,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post.

This can happen when a phone number is newly ported from one provider to another and we will be happy to look into it and help where we can. We've sent you a private message with some information that we need to get started.

I recently switched to Bell for my mobile service. It seems to work fine, and I can send and receive calls and texts from other people, except I do not receive any text messages for things like security code confirmations. For example, from something like Service Canada, a bank, or CRA, if I need to receive a text message with a security code in it, the message just never gets received on my phone. If I choose the option to receive the code by phone call instead it will come through, but texts do not work. This happened when I switched to Bell. I am using the same phone I was previously, and everything worked fine before I switched providers.

Hey there @screennamefor

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post.

This can happen when a phone number is transferred from one provider to the other. Normally after a few days it should correct itself, however, if it didn't, you can try the trick mentioned above on this thread.

Keep us posted on the results.

Trying to setup 2FA for some international accounts but I can’t receive SMS messages from international numbers. Any idea why? Is this a back-end setting from Bell? It’s getting very frustrating.

Hi there @NateB. Welcome to the Community.

To clarify, are you unable to receive 2FA text messages from international services, or from international numbers as a whole?

If the former, you'll need to get in touch with the international service in question and confirm whether or not they're able to send 2FA messages to Canadian numbers / numbers not considered domestic to them.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

A very similar issue happening in my case too.

My father and me just recently switched from a different carrier to Bell. Before the switch, my father was able to receive 2FA text messages for logging into an overseas bank . For what its worth I don't know if it was some international service or number for a fact, but we assume it may be because the bank has no presence in North America. It's situated in Europe.

Now when we made the switch to Bell (about a week ago), we also ported the same phone number from the previous carrier. And now he doesn't receive any SMS messages when the 2FA is requested by his banking service.

So it definitely worked before we made the switch to Bell.

Thanks,

Alex

Hi there, @Alex5 and @Nguyen . Welcome to the Community, and thank you for the details.

I am in the similar situation when I can't receive authentication code from international service (bank). I have add-on 500 Canada to US/International messages that costs additional $12/mon. And it doesn't work! Could you please share what is your father's previous carrier? I really need to receive the international code.

Good day,

Can you please post the solution to this issue.  I am having the exact same problem persistently; there will be multiple days of me trying over and over again but don't receive the authentication code.  And then at some random point, they will all come through, like 10-20 messages all with outdated authentication codes.

This is a crucial service for me and if a solution cannot be found, I will need to switch providers.  Thank you!
