VoLTE with Huawei P20 Mate Pro

Hi. Hoping someone knows this. I got the Bell email that my phone doesn't support VoLTE for when I roam in the US soon due to US carriers not supporting 3G. (Only Huawei P30 and P40 devices are compatible) Apparently, this just affects voice while in the states. Data is fine. Odd thing is when I go to my network settings I can see VoLTE is enabled currently. Does this option change as I connect to different carriers? Thanks.
