What plan is needed to call, text and use data in all of North America

RickTO

I purchased a roaming package for North America (trip to Mexico) and was charged $600 extra because I was texting someone in Mexico but with a US phone. What did I need to do to ensure I could call/text ALL countries in North America?

My Bell cell phone plan includes "Unlimited Canada-wide and Canada/U.S/Mexico calling, texting and data". Can someone please point me to a website or document that explains what this service entails?

In particular, I would like to determine whether this plan cover (1) phone calls from the US to Canada; (2) phone calls from Canada to the US; and (3) data used while I am travelling in Mexico and the US.

If your plan includes Unlimited calling, texting & data in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, you do not need to Add-on Roaming.

Unlimited shareable data with no overage fees is just that. Shareable plans allow family members to allocate voice and data between their devices. Adding your family members to a shareable plan means that you'll save more than you would if every individual family member purchased their own unlimited plan.

Hello. I know you can get Roam like Home for $16/day. However, I thought I read somewhere you could pay a monthly fee for roaming in US and Mexico. Does anyone know if this is available? Thank you.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

There is no monthly fee plan perse for Roaming Better. There is a 20-day maximum Roam Better fee that applies separately to the U.S. ($13 a day) and all other eligible destinations, Mexico, etc. ($16 a day).

The maximum monthly fee that can be billed for Roaming Better for the U.S. is $260. The maximum monthly fee for all other eligible destinations is $320

  1. Example: if you spend 25 days in the U.S. and then 5 days in Mexico within one monthly billing period, you’ll be charged 20 days for the U.S. ($260 total) and 5 days for Mexico ($80 total).
  2. Example: if you spend 10 days in the U.S. and then 20 days in Mexico within one monthly billing period, you’ll be charged 10 days for the U.S. ($130 total) and 20 days for Mexico ($320 total).
  3. Example: if you spend 30 days in the U.S. and 0 days in Mexico within one monthly billing period, you’ll be charged 20 days for the U.S. ($260 total) and 0 days for Mexico ($0 total).
  4. Example: if you spend 0 days in the U.S. and then 25 days in Mexico within one monthly billing period, you’ll be charged 0 days for the U.S. ($0 total) and 20 days for Mexico ($320 total).

For any days that you don’t use voice, text or data in a Roam Better destination, you won’t be charged the Roam Better - with home data daily fee. If you’ve added Roam Better but don’t want to be charged when arriving at your Roam Better destination, make sure data roaming is turned off on your device, don't make or answer any calls, and don't send any text messages.

The daily fee applies separately to each line using Roam Better – with home data. The maximum you can pay in a billing period is 20 days per line, after which you can continue enjoying unlimited talk and text and continue to use the data from your account at no additional cost for the rest of the billing period. If you exceed the data included in your rate plan, you’ll be charged the rates that apply to your domestic plan/usage.
