Can't Change Service Profile Nicknames (Web Site Error)

I have four devices on my account. Three of them have account nicknames that were set literally years ago. I went to change/set a nickname on the fourth device and it fails to update. Is this a known web site bug?

The update fails on both macOS Safari and macOS Chrome. After pressing "Save" a dialog appears saying the nickname has been updated, but it hasn't been. Noteworthy is that the change dialog is supposed to show the old nickname, but instead it shows blank (for all my devices) ... suggesting a data retrieval/access error has occured.

Is this defect report enough or do you need more info? Let me know.

Hey there @Dave_Ings

That's definitely not normal behavior for the MyBell app/account and we will be happy to help where we can.

There's a few things we would like for you to try to see if it will resolve the issue;

  • Please clear your browsers cookies and cache before accessing MyBell.
  • If doesn't work, try switching your browser in incognito mode.
  • As a last attempt, if Safari and Chrome doesn't work, give Edge a try.

Looking forward to hearing back from you with the results.

Are all of the cell phones linked in MyBell & on One bill?

When viewing the name changes in MyBell  >  Service Profiles, do you see the old name then new name after making the change? Have you tried removing the app & reinstalling it? Have you completed a power off of your iPad & then re-start & view of the cell phone names as shown in MyBell from within the iPad app?

Try these & let us know.

It was a simple fix! On iPad, go into your profile. Nickname the cell as required. Save. Go out of app, sign back in. It worked! Thanks for the help!

Hi @BellAntgio

I tried macOS Chrome, first clearing caches etc and subsequently trying incognito mode. Didn't work. I then tried Windows Edge (which is of course Chrome under the covers) in incognito mode, and that didn't work either.

Likely the clue is what I mentioned above - the change nickname dialog is unable to access the current nickname so it displays a blank. This suggests a possible data access problem either with my account or the Bell web application.

This is not a big deal 🙂 but I'm happy to try something else if you'd like to diagnose the problem. Thanks.

I found an easy workaround. You can use the Bell iOS app to change the service profile nickname.

Obviously the web site has some sort of coding error preventing nickname updates, but it doesn't matter much given the iOS app can do it.

On my Bell app. I have 2 phones I put nicknames on years ago. Have added 2 more cells, but unable to add nicknames to their plans on My One Bill. Have gone online to Bell, it says the names are saved. But they’re not.
HELP PLEASE

I’m using an iPad to try to put these changes onto my acount.  Is their a way to do via the Bell App

Thanks for any Help!
