Good day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

Thank you for posting your question. Only Bell can answer your question.

I can only speculate on why they would be calling you. How did you order your Bell Satellite service? Online or at a Bell store. Were you looking to purchase or rent a receiver? Programming? Installation appointment date & time? Privacy information? Order confirmation? etc. etc.

Please call Bell Customer Service orders at: 1 866 394-6331

Take care.

Hi there @Travis1
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
Our general method of contact is by phone, with exceptions to email or the app depending on what it is. If you have recently signed up and missed a phone call from us prior to the installation date, it is most likely a courtesy call to ensure everything is on track and to ensure you receive the service expected. For further questions or details of your specific order, you would need to contact customer service as @WelshTerrier had indicated.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Community.

Hey there @kazyumi ,

Welcome to the community and thanks for your post.

While this is a peer to peer forum and we don't have access to your account details, we can only provide general information on the matter.

It is normal practice to receive a verification call when multiple orders are made at the same time. This is in place to prevent fraudulent activity.

With this being said, it is good to be prudent and if you feel that anything seems suspicious, hang up and contact Bell directly to confirm.

Let the community know if you have more questions.

I currently moved to Bell from a different provider after seeing a good Black Friday deal offer. Made the order for my mobile plans 4 days ago as of writing this.

I normally am aware of fraud calls and most of the time ignore them all. I got a call from  (888) 779-****, and a dude introduced himself stating that he was from Bell and he's just doing a "Order/Identity Verification" for a order that I placed.

He sounded very "official", and since I encountered "hiccups" while on the process of getting my mobility plan ordered, I thought that the call was legit. The thing was, he asked (and I stupidly answered) "why do you have this amount of lines under your account?" and "who's going to use these lines?" and "why are you paying for all these lines?". I answered them thinking that it was legit given the fact that he knew my name, he knew how many lines I have under my account, and I just recently made that order.

The guy didn't asked for any sensitive information though, like driver's license number, etc. Something just does not sit right with his questions. That was my first time ever getting a call with questions like those from a telecom provider.

My silly question is, has anyone here ever got a similar phone call from the number mentioned above?

For any Bell employees or mod reading this, is this a typically routine for new customers with 3+ lines?

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

It is somewhat difficult to answer your question based on the limited information you have provided.

To answer your last question first, there is no set fast routine or process in place for customers wishing to order 3+ lines or additional services from Bell. Bell's representatives are trained to handle multiple service requests on the initial call.

In terms of the call you received, were you expecting a callback from Bell Mobility?

May I ask, what makes you think it was a representative from Bell that called you? Because he said so? Because of his call display number? Name display? Etc. etc.

Next time, please hang up. Never, ever share any information with anyone you do not know or trust.

If in doubt, call Bell to confirm the legitimacy! Fraudsters call potential victims claiming to be from their service provider. They can trick you into unknowingly sharing personal information with the ultimate goal of stealing from you.

Please have a look at the following web link. I am hoping you will find something new in this document that will be of benefit to you.

Service provider impersonation scam - Bell

If need be, you can contact Bell Customer Service at: 1 800 667-0123 or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device.

Thank you for taking the time to share this with the members of the Bell Community Forum.

Like I mentioned above, the guy knew specifics of the order that I made a couple of days ago. Specific details that I would expect to be confidential between me and Bell.

1. The guy knew my name as he asked for me specifically when I picked up the call.

2. He knew specifics of the order (i.e how many lines I have, when the order was made and how it was cancelled at first and it was re-done, how many free crave subscriptions I have with the plan).

Like I said, calls like those, I normally ignore or just hang up, but since he knew some very specific details that are supposed to be confidential, it made me believe that he was actually from Bell.

If this is not typical of Bell, and Bell would never make a call like that, the question is how the heck did the guy knew the specifics of my order? I have never used my email  address to anything else for the past 1.5 years except for this time when I was asked for it when making the order so Bell can send me email verifications and confirmation about my order and for making an account for MyBell app.

It seems like Bell's system is either compromised or some insider is selling customer information is what this situation is telling me.

Good Day.

Thank you for your feedback & follow-up. This is a peer-to-peer website, as such, we do not have access to your account and billing records.

I can only speculate on why they would be calling you. How did you order your Bell Mobility service? Online or at a Bell store. Did you speak to Bell representative prior to this phone call?

Bell's general method of contact is by phone, with exceptions to email or the app depending on what it is.

If Bell called you, then only Bell can answer your question. For further clarification, you will need to contact Bell Customer Service at: 1 800 667-0123 or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device.

Thank you for posting your question.
