I paid an old Bell One Bill account number by mistake - I have since paid the right account but want to get the money back or transferred for next month. Is this possible?

Hi there @healeysue. Thanks for your post, and welcome to the Bell Community 🙂

You can absolutely request that the funds be transferred to the correct account. Once the transfer is complete that payment would apply towards the next invoice.

If you wish to receive a refund, the quickest way would be to contact your financial institution in order to request a payment reversal.

Alternatively you can request that we refund your money in the same way that you paid. It can take 3-4 weeks to receive a refund. For more information check out this thread Refund owingOpens in a new tab or window

Hello everyone,I am an international student who is about to leave this country in two months. Unfortunately, due to my carelessness, I accidentally paid my rent for this month to a Bell account instead of my landlord's account. I am in desperate need of advice on how to retrieve this money, as it is extremely important to me. If I cannot get this money back in time, I may face eviction by my landlord. If any of you have experienced a similar situation or know the right course of action, please share your suggestions and advice. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Sincerely,

Phone Bell’s billing dep. And probably your bank too. Both should be ASAP.

As for eviction, please check the provincial law and relax. Landlords can’t legally kick you out you without an eviction order, even if you don’t pay rent. If they happen to use other legal excuses, you must have messed up the retrieving of the money for too long that they become so suspicious about your explanation.

I recently paid my One Bill. I forgot that my account has been changed to my wife's account number. Is it possible to transfer this payment to my wife's account ?

Thank you.  Bob and Deanna

I do not know of any simple method of retracting a payment to correct this type of mistake. You can try talking to your financial institution, but I am not even sure they can do this.

Both of you can contact Bell Customer Services Billing & Accounts at  310-BELL or at 1-800-310-BELL & see what they can do for you. A simpler, less costly & faster method might be to do a financial transfer between each of you.

Wish I could offer some other quick fix, but I can not!

I made my payment using an old account and it hasn’t been credited to my account, what can I do?

Wow..... very good question! How did you make the payment is my first question? Where did you make the payment?: Online? Credit Card , Bank? Financial institution? Cheque? MyBell > Pre-authorized payments or Make a payment?

I really do wish I could help you but this is a very important and relevant information.

My first suggestion would be to contact whomever you issued the payment with & just hope that this mistake can be reversed before it is applied to the wrong account.

Failing this approach, you can try contacting Bell Customer Service billing & orders  & see what they can do for you.

Their number is: 310-BELL or 1-866-310-BELL

I Paid it through my bank application with following steps:

Went to my bank application > added a Payee > Went to bell mobility application> coppied the Client ID > pasted it on my bank application > entered the amount which was due > submitted the payment.

It was not until this month notification which showed me amount overdue that the client id was different that what it was when I made the payment.

If you set up the Client ID with your financial institution & submitted the payment, it would be next to impossible for Bell to know which account you made the payment to. You need to go back to your financial institution and correct the account payee information & see what they can do to reverse your payment  to the wrong account.

I trust you know the wrong account number that you paid through your bank?

Have you contacted Bell Customer Services Billing & Accounts ? If not, you will also need to them ASAP at:  310-BELL or at 1-800-310-BELL & see what they can do for you.

Based on the limited information you have provided to me, you have an outstanding bill that has not been paid!

If you overpaid your previous account & it is now closed, Bell will mail a cheque to your mailing address on file within 90 days of the date of your final bill.

I did an overpayment in my internet service for thought its the same than mobile, now my mobile is unpaid. NEED HELP TO TRANSFER THE AMOUNT .

If you overpaid your internet account, contact your credit card company or financial institution immediately to reverse payment. Otherwise, the credit balance will carry over to next month’s bill, reducing the amount owing.

Bill payments can not be transferred from one account to another. You will need to make a payment to your Mobility account A.S.A.P. as it is set up as a separate account.

Payments through your financial institution, or as a One time payment on MyBell or in person at the bank or by cheque etc., can take between 5-10 business for this to be processed & the funds forwarded to Bell to apply to your account. Once the funds are received, your account will be credited & you will be able to view the credit on MyBell.

To avoid a similar situation from reoccurring, your easiest & best method of payment is setting up Pre-authorized payments on MyBell in One Bill.

Paid wrong bill

Do you know which account you overpaid? If the account is one of yours, the credit balance will carry over to next month's bill, reducing the amount owing.

If you paid another account by mistake that is not yours, you will need to contact your credit card company or financial institution immediately to reverse this payment. Bill payments can not be transferred from one account to another.

You will still need to make a payment to your account A.S.A.P. before it is becomes overdue.
