Paying double accidentally

I usually pay automatically on my credit card, but prepaid my bill a few days earlier, on line, with another card.

I was more than a little surprised to see that Bell ALSO charged my credit card for the same bill. Yippee, according to my account, I now have a credit with them. Why give me the option to pay, when you plan to Hoover the cash from my credit card anyway?

An utterly stupid company, at times.

I suppose I could call and straighten it out, but prefer not spending weekend time in an “unusually” long holding pattern.

Hi there @dwdorken. Welcome to the Bell Community, and thanks for your post.

When your account is set up for preauthorized payments there is no need to make a manual payment, as our system will not recognize that and will still process your auto payment on file. If you now have a credit on your account, that credit will be applied to your next invoice.

Good Day. Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

If you overpaid your bill in error, you would need to contact your financial institution in order to cancel or reverse  the payment. Bell processes all payments upon receipt. Depending on your method of payment, it can take a minimum of 3-5 business days or more for Bell to receive your payment.

If it has already been processed by your credit card company or financial institution & it has been forwarded to Bell, then your account will be credit this overpayment & it will be applied to your next months bill reducing any amount that would be owing.

Thank you for contacting the Bell Community Forum.

Take care.

Yes, never prepay your bill if you have pre-authorized payments their program doesn’t register the payment and will still bill you possibly causing nsf charges. They just double billed me and it was paid 18days beforehand. The first time was 3 days before which could of been understandable.

If you overpaid your bill this past month, Bell will apply this overpayment as a credit to your account. This overpayment will show up on MyBell when the funds are received. This credit will be deducted from your next bill.

To avoid a similar situation from happening in the future, you should verify and / or setup One Bill  pre-authorized payments on MyBell. This can be done easily & quickly with payments being made from your financial institution or credit card.

Hello

good day,

yesterday I paid my bill by myself.

Then it was paid automatically, which was already active.

I have already paid a bill twice.

What I have to do?

I had paid my this month's bill on Jan 29th but it got deducted twice from my account, what should I do??

How did you pay your bill? Did you set up Pre-authorized payments on MyBell as well make a One time payment on MyBell? If so, depending on when you paid your bill, this could be the reason for the double payment. If you also paid your bill through your financial institution prior to or after completing either of the above, this would also be another example of your bill being paid twice.

Once both payments have been received by Bell, your account will be credited. You will see a credit applied when you log in to MyBell. Any overpayment will applied to your next monthly bill reducing the amount owing.

Once the financial institution or credit card company processes payments, there is little that can be done to reverse them. You can try reaching out to either of them, but I would suggest it is next to impossible for you to reverse them at this time.

Once you set up Pre-authorized payments, there is no need for you to make any other form of payment. Your payment each month is adjusted to reflect your current bill. There is nothing stopping you from making additional payments, just keep in mind they are being applied to your account balance. If there is no outstanding balance owing, then you will see a CR amount.

Thank you reaching out to the Bell Community Forum.

Take care.

If you overpaid your account, contact your credit card company or financial institution immediately to reverse payment. Otherwise, the credit balance will carry over to next month’s bill, reducing the amount owing.

Note: You will see a CR $ amount credit on your account for the extra payment once Bell receives the funds that you overpaid in error.

Thank you for reaching out to the Bell Community Forum.
