I set up automatic bell payment through Tangerine and it says on MyBell that I am late paying it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
❗AI Summary:
When you set up pre-authorized payments, the withdrawal of funds from your bank account or credit card does not happen immediately on the next bill's due date. It's important to note that it can take one full billing cycle for pre-authorized payments to become active after you first enroll. For this reason, it is recommended to make a manual payment for your first bill after setting up pre-authorized payments to avoid any late fees.
You can review your billing and payment history, including your bill date, due date and any upcoming pre-authorized payment dates, by logging into MyBell.
Key Factors Influencing Pre-Authorized Payment Timing
Billing Cycle: Your bill is issued on the same date each month, and this date is typically determined by when services were first activated. Bell services are billed one month in advance and payment processing times are determined by the type of pre-authorized payment chosen.
Payment Method Processing Time:
- Pre-authorized debit: Withdrawals from a bank account can take up to 18 calendar days to be processed after your bill date.
- Pre-authorized credit card: Payments made with a credit card are typically processed within 7 business days after your bill date.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum
When did you set up your pre-authorized bank payments? If you just recently signed up for pre-authorized payments, then you should make a manual payment for your first payment to be safe. If you overpay, your account will be credited & any overpayment will be applied to your next monthly bill. Do not adjust your pre-authorized payment.
Both enrolling and removing the pre-authorization permission has a delay of one billing cycle before coming into effect.

I've been on credit card pre-authorized payment for years. For some reason last payment didn't go through and Bell sent me an e-mail saying I was late—which I thought was a scam at first. So, I just paid it at MyBell and I'm hoping that next months payment goes through ok.

Thank you for reaching out. That is a very good question.
The date that the funds are withdrawn is dependent on the method of payment you chose & your billing date.
If you just set up a pre-authorized payment, please make a one-time manual payment if you have an outstanding balance on your current bill to be safe.
Both enrolling and removing the pre-authorization permission has a delay of one billing cycle before coming into effect.

How long does it take for my Bell payment to be processed?
Pre-Authorized Debit: - Every month, up to 18 calendar days after the bill date
Pre-Authorized Credit card: - Every month, up to 7 business days after the bill date
I am hoping this has been of assistance in answering your question.
Take care.

I got a Bell sim card with monthly plan for my daughter. The bill with service charge and taxes was 129.95 which I paid on July 8, 2025. Suddenly to my consternation Bell charged her bank account for the same bill and same amount through pre-authorized payment. How that happened? Can we trust Bell?

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.
Based on the limited information that you have provided, I can only surmise, that the account was setup for pre-authorized payments prior to or at the same time as your purchase.
Both enrolling and removing the pre-authorization permission has a delay of one billing cycle before coming into effect.
If you manually made a payment & overpaid your bill in error & pre-authorized payments had been previously set up, you would need to contact your financial institution in order to cancel or reverse the payment.
Bell processes all payments upon receipt. Depending on your method of payment, it can take a minimum of 3-5 business days or more for Bell to receive your payment.
If it has already been processed by your credit card company or financial institution & it has been forwarded to Bell, then your account will be credited this overpayment & it will be applied to your next months bill reducing any amount that would be owing. Do not adjust your pre-authorized payments.
For further information, please call Bell Customer Service billing & payments at: 1 800 667-0123 or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device.
Thank you for contacting the Bell Community Forum.
Take care.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.
The processing time depends on the payment method you use:
- Pre-authorized debit: Every month, up to 18 calendar days after the bill date.
- Pre-authorized credit card: debit: Every month, up to 7 business days after the bill date.
If your Bell payment is late due to insufficient funds, your account will now be in arrears. Bell will charge late payment fees and potentially suspend your services. Specifically, a late payment fee is applied to the unpaid balance 30 days after the billing date.
How long does it take for my Bell payment to be processed?
I will leave this with you to ponder on: "Use your billing date as Bell's bill processing timeline. If sufficient funds are made available on this date, then you will not be faced with a missed payment.
Take care.
