Unsubscribe from Roam Better

It was as easy as sending a text message to subscribe to Roam Better.

However, Bell makes it insiduously difficult to unsubscribe (probably in the hope you forget your setting and pay a 14$/day fee next time you travel with your SIM card and you forget you had the service on: it will charge you as soon as any app on your phone ping the network, which means almost certainly every day of your travel).

The MyBell app (mobile or web) does not permit you to deactivate the feature, what gives? Bell wants you to *contact them* to unsubscribe. Seems very dishonest to me!

Anyone knows if there is a text message option to unsubscribe, just like the one that allows you to subscribe?

Unsubscribing RoamBetter would mean crazy charges upon connecting to a foreign network. I want to be able to block roaming when I don't want to use it during traveling. Yes, I know about turning off SIM/airplane mode. Well, I also know I can turn off my phone completely too.

Good Day. Do you have a specific question that i can help you with?

I believe you are asking for a modification or change that is not offered by Bell Mobility?

If you review earlier posts and replies on this, you will find that this is something we have discussed previously & is not within my circle of influence to change. Sorry, but "This is one rabbit I can not pull out of a hat!"

I do hear you! This is just something that can not be dealt with on the Bell Community Forum.

My apologies for not being able to help you with this once again.

Thank you for reaching out to the Bell Community Forum.

Take care.

I had called before to have it removed, but was told my phone would just be paper weight. so i kept it for emergency, and now i get charge $13 for 1 text and 0.65MB of roaming.
tried to remove it via chat and calling Bell, pretty much narrow down to my own fault for having the feature!

i'm wiling to pay $1.99 for the text... but really... $13 for 1 text and 0.65MB!! - dont think i'll be using Bell after this 😞

For anyone that does not want to hear opinion, call Bell support, tell them to DE-activate any roaming services with a note to never re-activated them without your authorization.

Welsh Terrier - I just want to say that whatever I type below I am not angry or upset at your post.I am simply responding to it with my own opinion.

I DO disagree with Bells policy on Roaming Better activation/deactivation and that's what the below reply is about.

---------------------

Why should I have to call Bell in order to UN-subscribe from a service I did not subscribe to?

Bell did this to my account and I can tell you why I know that.

I am 250KM from any international border, have not left my home city since 2 years before I received this phone.

There is zero possibility I sent in a OK or YES reply to a text to sign up for better roaming.

I did not ask for it nor did I even know it was an option-Bell did not tell me this service even existed they just willy nilly applied it to my account and HAD I been a traveller my first indication of this would have been god knows how much more money charged to a monthly bill.

Scenario: Bell activates better roaming on my service plan but does not advise me it has done so

I, not knowing I have this "automatic roaming activated on my plan now" go to India for a month and do not use my cell phone while I am there.

I come back and have an extra (15 per day x 30) $450 on my monthly bill for "roaming fees" . I tell Bell I did not know that service was on my plan and do not want to pay, they say too bad, send me to collections=credit rating ruined OR I know I can't win so pay the $450 and call it a rip off.

OK so lets compare that scenario to a mechanic.

You bring the car to your mechanic and say I want new tires put on my car.

When you return you've been charged for new tires and new brakes.

When questioning the mechanic he/she tells you, I sign you up for our new maintenance service and you needed brakes, pay up or go to collections.

Is this OK? Because that is EXACTLY what Bell has done to it's customers.

I regret signing up for the Bell service now. I should have waited for Telus to come out with a similar plan.

I was with Telus for 14 years and this . NEVER happened.
