Every 30 minutes, my Bell 4K VIP5662W goes to standby/inactivity mode. This happens when I'm watching live TV or PVR recorded shows. This only happens when I am viewing via the Bell box - other sources do not display this behaviour, and my TV is set to not sleep,
Online help says to press MENU/Settings/Preferences/Inactivity Duration. I can get to MENU/Settings/ but I don't see a Preferences option, or an Inactivity Duration option.
Thank you in advance for your help

Your issue is not with the modem!
Please check your TV settings. In particular your Power & Energy Savings settings. E.g. screen saver, auto power savings, auto power off & inactivity energy savings settings etc. Each major manufacturer will have something similar.
Also check the setting for all of your devices that you have connected to your TV via HDMI. E.g. Amazon Firestick 4K, etc. These also have similar settings & have built in power, screen savers, & inactivity energy savings settings Some will also show you, photos, manufacturer ads, blank screens, etc.

Hi there @Stevo1
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
Are you able to clarify if the receiver is shutting off or is it going into standby mode? If it's in standby mode, pushing buttons on the remote should wake it up.
Looking forward to hearing back.

Hi All,
I believe I have finally solved this, or I'm onto a solid way forward. When I turn on my Samsung TV, it's via the Bell remote. The TV has a "boot-up" menu on the bottom of the screen, and in the background it displays the Bell messaging (new show ad, press Select to start, etc). I now wait until the TV has completely dismissed its boot-up menu and the Bell box displays "press Select" BEFORE I actually press Select on the Bell remote. (In the past, I would press Select as soon as I could see anything). Since I have adopted this approach, my TV generally does not shut off automatically after 30 minutes - yay! I've had a few failures, so there's still a bit of a timing issue, but it works about 9 times out of 10. I hope this can be of help to others with a similar problem.

Did you connect the box to another device then to the tv? It could be the “middleman”’s settings was 30 min.

Thank you AlexS for the response. I had not thought of that, and yes I do connect to the TV via my surround sound receiver. I will keep this in mind, but I don't think the receiver is the problem (unless it is HDMI-port specific), since the other sources also route via the receiver but do not time out.
Your post had me think about the "other side", i.e. the Bell modem that feeds the Bell 4K box. I unplugged/replugged the modem, and so far I have not experienced a standby/inactivity event...
Thanks again for your suggestion

Personally, I'm struggling with the same thing. I've unplugged the modem several times to address other issues... still get this unwanted screen saver. I don't see 'menu' on my remote and when I go to "settings" on the box, I don't see anything related to inactivity. What am I supposed to do?

Have you by chance reviewed my earlier reply to this problem from? It might be of assistance to you.
There is no preference option on the Bell 4K VIP5662W. You can turn the pvr off with the power button. This will put the pvr in to standby mode. Pushing the power button once again or by pushing the power button on the remote removes the pvr from standby & in to full power on.
I do not believe your issue is with the VIP5662W. You can try rebooting your pvr & your modem by unplugging the power cords separately, but I do not believe that this will do anything to solve your issue.
I believe your issue is related to your TV or a device connected to your TV that is blanking your screen. This can be an Energy or Power Saving feature in your TV settings, a TV sleep timer that is turned on, an Inactivity TV setting, a Screen Saver, or another device that may be connected directly or indirectly to your TV.
I wish I could offer you a quick fix, but I can not. Please keep us updated on your progress & let the Bell Community know if there is anything else we can do.

I spoke with Bell tech support. The indicated that you can’t eliminate the ‘screen save’ from that model. It will timeout after 2hrs and start displaying commercial ads as well as the Bell Logo. I don’t think it’s anything more or less than an advertising ‘feature’. Personally, it’s as annoying as hell

I am having the same issue with the VIP6802 box. I power on my TV (Vizio), my receiver (Anthem) and my Five TV box (VIP6802) all at once. The HDMI goes thru the receiver to the TV and does not return via a separate cable ARC). After 30 minutes, the VIP6802 goes into stand by. My temp. workaround is to enable HDMI CEC on the TV. The that can create other problems with the system control. Has anyone else seem this issue with the VIP6802 going into standby after 30 minutes? I can’t get audio/video back even when I turn the unit back on. I have to turn off and on my entire system and it still turns off. 30 minutes later again.

I called Bell - they confirmed this is a 'feature' of this box. Incidentally, it's also an opportunity for Bell to plaster ads on my screen while the program i was watching jugs along

I talked with Bell last night and they confirmed that the firmware in my VIP7802 was corrupted. They couldn’t even run a diagnostic on it remotely but could see lots of blocked data. He called it “Red and black bars” based on what he could see when connected to my box. They are sending me a new receiver. The only power saving mode that is a feature is supposed to be the 4 hour inactivity timer that is hard coded.

I am having a similar issue. It seems to shutoff almost every 24 hr (8:20 pm every night). I’ve gone into my Sony tv and made sure the energy shut off was off. I’ve reset everything and it still does it. I have the arris vip5662w fibe tv box. The box does not have a preference under the menu/settings. I’m hoping it’s just “a user issue “ lol as I can’t wait to fix this. Looking forward to someone posting a fix!!!

It’s very odd as I initially thought it was my TV. I called Sony and they walked me through to make sure I was setting the standby Eco to off, which it is set to that. But every single night around the same time my TV shuts off. It’s a big assumption that it’s my five TV box because it’s the only thing connected to my TV. It will run perfectly all day and around the same time every night it will just randomly shut the TV off. you are correct pushing a button continues the program that I was watching. If I was watching a PVR show, it would just continue on exactly where I was.
