Connect receiver and Slim Remote to Yamaha RX-2A2 Receiver and LG TV

Hello All,

I'm a new Bell User. I'm trying to connect my Fibe Terminal and Slim Remote to my Yamaha RX-2A2 Receiver and my 75" LG TV (Model 75UN8570).

I can get thinks running with the following connections.

Bell Terminal -> HDMI out -> Yamaha Input 7

Yamaha HDMI Output -> LG HDMI 3 (eARC)

The problem, the Bell Terminal doesn't recognize the Receiver and the remote will NOT control the volume on the Yamaha?

Whats the right way to connect the Terminal to the TV and Receiver for optimal viewing and audio performance.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

Your Bell VIP7802 will not control your Yamaha receiver. Your VIP7802 will control the power on / off, volume +/- for your LG TV & the settings on your Bell TV box.  Your Yamaha receiver is controlled by your LG TV settings & Yamaha remote control. Your TV settings are the interface for your Yamaha receiver.

The Fibe TV VIP7802 must connect directly to your LG TV. Output Bell receiver > Input - LG TV. Output LG TV > Input - Yamaha receiver.

You will also need to make adjusts to your tv settings in your device manager to recognize the Bell Fibe TV receiver & your output via eARC to your Yamaha receiver.

Please refer to you LG Model 75UN8570 online manual for further connection information.

@Boloman28, make sure you have the HDMI CEC settings on the receiver and your TV configured.  They're not always on by default.  LG calls their implementation Simplink, I believe.

http://kr.eguide.lgappstv.com/manual/w20_mr10/atsc/Apps/w5.0_mr10_u05/u_enga/control.html seems to be for your TV and might help.  Should be at Settings->Connection->Device Connection Settings.  You may need to change settings in the Sound section as well (if you haven't already) if you want to make sure the TV speakers aren't being used, if LG allows that.

You will also need to go to the Bell receiver (I'm presuming you have the VIP7802) to enable "Pass volume keys to HDMI" found in Settings->Audio & Visual->Audio.  I don't recall if I had to have the remote configured to control the TV or not.

I have my Bell VIP7802 running through my receiver and the Bell remote turns the TV on, receiver turns on after that automatically, plus it controls the volume on my receiver.  Setup is:

Bell VIP7802 -> HDMI -> Yamaha RX-V467 receiver -> HDMI -> Toshiba 47"

My kit is different than yours, but should still be possible.  Not withstanding the settings differences or quirks with having to use specific HDMI ports (for eg).  You may also want to make sure the firmware is up to date on your Yamaha (I read of HDMI updates for some features being included after shipping).

Good luck.
