Fibe tv pixilation with bell android tv box

I have random times when the fibe tv haves pixilation and even a reboot doesn't help what else can I do to resolve this problem?

I would like to hear the response to this.

We are having the same issues as described by @SirHomeALot

Watching a Fibe TV channel for a while (live TV) or on a recorded program we get pixelation, and if we exit out and come back into it, or change channels it will clear up for a while and then start happening again.

I was advised to do a factory reset on the receiver and that has indeed solved the problem --- for now. I'll jump back in if it re-occurs.

How is that done? Press and hold the little button on the side of the Fibe box?

Heh, I've never noticed a button, so I'm not sure what that does 🙂

I suspect it depends on which receiver you have. I have the small square one, with Android TV ...

I went into the device settings menu, and looked for the reset option in the right hand column (device settings > device preferences > About > Factory reset)

While watching TV, the picture will frequently go splotchy.  Best way I can describe it, relevant to people of my generation, is like the light show for a 60s acid rock band.  The problem can be temporarily fixed by switching to another channel & then immediately back to the problem channel.  But, it is only a matter of time until the next occurrence.  We have two TVs with receivers & the problem occurs on both sets.  We have the Better TV package & a Giga modem.

Hi there @hayesba
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
Are you able to share which receiver model you have?
Does this issue occur on all channels or just specific ones?
How often does this happen?
Are any of your recordings impacted by this?
Do you notice any internet connection issues on any of your other devices when the issue occurs?
Are you by chance able to share a picture of what you see the next time it happens?
Looking forward to hearing back.

Thanks for the welcome.  Our receivers are model VIP7802.  We probably don't watch a ton of different channels but the problem has occurred on all of them including TSN, Sportsnet, CBC Newsworld, TCM, W, CBC, CTV.  It happens frequently e.g. if I watch a sports event, the problem will occur some time during the broadcast.  My wife reports that the issue did show up in a recording.  I'm not sure if other devices have had internet connection issues at the same time but I will check this out next time.  As I noted, the problem can be resolved by switching to another channel & then back again.  I will take a photo the next time it occurs.

Thank you for the information @hayesba. Can you also confirm if your receiver is connected via WiFi or ethernet connection?

Should be WiFi

Hi @hayesba
If possible, we would recommend hooking up one of the receivers via Ethernet connection, just to see if the issue persists on it or not.

How would I go about that (I'm not terribly technical!).

Hi @hayesba
You would need to plug an Ethernet cord into a LAN port on the back of your modem and then plug the other end into the LAN port on the back of the receiver (if your receivers are not to far away from the modem and you have a cord long enough to reach).

They are definitely too far apart - close as the crow flies but in separate rooms.

Here are some photos of the distortion that shows up on our TV.  IMG_0149.jpgIMG_0152.jpgIMG_0154.JPG

Have the photos I attached provided any clues?
