Hey everyone 🙂

I've been able to check into this a bit more.

We are in the process of upgrading equipment for the satellite platform which is upgrading everything to HD (even those with the SD channel numbers). This means that if you previously had the channel zoomed in to make the SD fill the screen then you will need to remove that setting for each station to ensure the new HD format fits properly. You can adjust that display settings on the remote using the * format button at the bottom left of the remote.

Please let the Community know if you have any more questions.

As an update, I have recently seen improvement on this display issue, but not through using the slim Bell remote.  Pressing Options on that unit and then selecting "Image Format" offers these choices: Normal, Stretch, Zoom 1. Zoom 2, and Gray Bar.  None improved the issue.

I had another try at this last week as @BellPatricia had previously advised that updating work was underway.   Rather than using the Bell remote, I instead accessed the Picture Size options using the factory remote originally supplied with our Samsung TV.  These are Wide Fit, 4:3, Screen Fit, and 16:9 (your TV options may be different depending upon brand).   I had tried this previously to no avail, however, last week I found that selecting the "16.9" picture size allows all of our channels to display correctly.  The headers, sidebars and lower banners now all appear in full without being cut off.

While this improvement may be specific to my setup, it might be worth trying the remote control originally supplied with your TV to change its display settings rather than the Bell unit.

Thank you for your question. Are the HD channels not fitting properly or the SD channels? Is it just a few or all channels?  It might be a setting on your TV called aspect ratio. On many TV remotes the setting is controlled by a button called Display. You can try cycling through the display settings to see if that returns your picture. Try that and let us know if it works.

It’s both the SD and HDchannels and I have checked the aspect ratio.As I said previous it is only on the tv that has the 9400 satellite. The other tv has an older receiver and it works fine. It only seems to global tv on both.

Hi @Paddie,

Thank you for reaching out to the Bell Community.

Can you please clarify which stations that is happening on (name & channel number)?

@BellPatricia

Hi, it is global tv on 240 and global on 899 Cksa 238, weather network 80 & 505 HD 1212,1211.these are some of the ones that we have noticed.

Thanks for sharing @Paddie

Can you also let us know what the resolution of your TV is?

@BellPatricia

The bottom is what I’m talking about.

Hey there @Paddie,

I don't see the TVs resolution info in your photo.

@BellPatricia

Hi Patricia, this is all that’s on the tvIMG_0119.jpeg

Hey there @Paddie

We hope you are having a nice evening 🙂

Can you use the 16X9 setting and test to see if the image is still zoomed in?

Also, are you using the HDMI cable supplied by Bell or a different one?

Looking forward to your reply,

@BellPatricia

We also have this issue.  We had been able to view all channels correctly for years using the "Wide Fit" display setting on our Bell 6500 satellite box and Samsung TV.  This changed a month ago.

All our channels are SD.  In early Nov/24 channels 243, 244, 500, 503, 505, 510 abruptly "zoomed in" on their own, and now no longer display correctly on the Wide Fit TV setting.  Heads, Sidebars, and top & bottom screen banner texts are cut off.  Other channels remain fine.

We have tried all available display option on our TV.  These are Wide Fit, 4:3, Screen Fit, and 16:9.   Changing from Wide Screen to 4:3 or Screen Fit significantly distorts or reduces channels to an effective display size of 30" on a 40" TV.   Oddly, the 16:9 display corrects the "zoom in" problem on channels 243, 244, 500, 503, 505, 510,  but it does not display correctly for any others.

As a final note, anything viewed using an external source (Apple TV box, BlueRay player) always displays correctly.

Details:

Bell Receiver 6500.  HDMI Cable as supplied by Bell.  New cable made no difference.

TV Type: Samsung Model #UN40D5003BF.  Type # UN40D5003. Model Code UN40D5003BFXZC.  Version # FB03

Any advice beyond what has already been tried to correct this is appreciated.

@BellPatricia

I’m having the same issues with the same equipment as reported. I am not finding your explanation sufficient to solve the problem. Please provide more specific instructions. Thank you.
