VIP7802 Search keyboard missing

I have the Fibe TV Voice remote. For some reason, I’m no longer able to search as the onscreen keyboard no longer displays. Any hints to fix this? I’ve tried unpairing and pairing the remote, but that didn’t work.

When you scroll down the menu on the left and select the Search option, are you then able to type in the show you want to search for? If the issue still persists you can also try a factory reset. Simply click the multi function button on the side of your 7802 receiver to bring up a menu, and select Factory reset to proceed.

Please keep us posted on how everything is going.

Hey there @Oporto

Thanks for reaching out to the Bell Community.

Do you have multiple receivers, and can you test to see if this is affecting all of them?

Did you log into your Google account on the 7802? If you don't sign into Google your searches will be limited to what's on the Bell Fibe TV App (such as On Demand content & Live TV).

You will need to sign into Google if you want to be able to search across all platforms (YouTube, Netflix, Prime etc). For more information check out Connecting your Google account and Fibe TV BoxOpens in a new tab or window

If you are still having trouble with the search bar not functioning we recommend that you factory reset your receiver(s). To factory reset your 7802 simply click the multi function button on the side of your receiver to bring up a menu, and select Factory reset to proceed.

Hope to hear back from you about how everything is going.

Good Day.

Are you having trouble with any other of the remote functions (such as controlling the volume or changing channels)?

To troubleshoot you can start by replacing the batteries. Have you tried unplugging the receiver from the power source, waiting 20 seconds & plugging it back in to see if this makes a difference

If you are still having trouble after that you can also try resetting your remote control to factory settings. Note: the remote will no longer control the TV and audio devices you have programmed so you would need to reprogram them.

Here are the steps to reset your remote:

  • Select Settings from the home screen.
  • Scroll down to the Support section and select Remote Settings.
  • Select Reset. *Now that the remote has been reset to factory settings, the next steps will guide you through programming the remote using the appropriate code.

Hi,

I followed the steps as suggested, but I’m still unable to see the onscreen keyboard.

Hi there @Ennaid M
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
On the home page at the very top, there is a microphone with the word "Search" beside it. When you go up to this the word "Search" should disappear and a 'keyboard icon' should appear. Does that happen for you or is the keyboard still missing?

If it is still missing please check the following:
Under Settings > Device - Settings > Device Preferences > Keyboard > does it show "Gboard" under the the keyboard?  Also under the "Manage keyboard" section, do you see the toggle put to the right side beside "Gboard English (Canada)"?
Hope to hear from you,

@BellPatricia

Hi @BellPatricia

I’m not getting the word “Search” appearing on the home page.

The current keyboard is Gboard, and while the toggle beside Gboard English (Canada) appears to be on, I’m not able to select it to turn it off and back on to see if that fixes the issue.

It worked from December 6, 2023 until sometime in late August.

Hey there @Ennaid M,

Thanks very much for your reply.

Can you share a photo of your home page so we can take a closer look?

Any ideas why the search function on the new Fube update does not work.
When search is clicked on within the home menu neither the Google or the type entry is accessed. After a few seconds the it blanks out and no access is given to allow the search

None of the above suggestions worked for me. My search section is visible in the home menu but neither the voice or keyboard option works. Both spin for a couple seconds then reverts to the Home menu (Trending Live, Apps, etc)

In addition to the above, the Google Assistant does not work.

There is no button on the side of the receiver.

Hi there @Ennaid M
The button is a small button on the side of the receiver.
