What is the USB port for on 4K receiver?

There is a USB port on the rear of my Fibe 4K receiver.  I assume this is for an external drive, but I can't find a manual for the receiver.  Am I right?

I assume you are referencing the the VIP 5662W 4K Whole Home PVR

The USB 3.0 port on the back of the receiver is reserved for use by a Bell technician during the initial setup & also used when it it is returned to Bell to be reconfigured. It is not a connection for an external drive.
