Why don't I have an American channel or local channel like channel 6

How come I can not have an american channel and do not have a local channel like channel 6 on Cogeco

  3. Does your TV package include U.S. stations & channels?
  4. Which part of the country do you reside in? Municipality?
  5. Channel 6 is a Cogeco cable channel designation affiliated with which city & station? Network?
  6. What do you use to watch TV? TV Box, receiver, tablet, mobile device, web browser, computer, etc.
  7. Make & model number of the devices you are using to watch Bell TV.

If you can fill in the details above, we will try to help in answering your question.

Thank you for your question. The simple answer to your question is that it is because of CRTC licensing conditions. Cable providers are required, as a license condition, to provide local programming and at the very least, a barker channel for announcements. These are often found in the low channels in their lineup. Because Bell is a national provider, it does not have that license condition and so does not have a local programming channel. Cable providers also may have contracts with junior A hockey leagues and have unique programming not found on Bell.

Local programming channels are required to be provided on cable TV systems by the CRTC as a condition of their license. They are often found on the VHF Low band (1-13) channels although there are exceptions. Bell does not have that license condition, so it does not provide a local community channel.
