Dead zone at Long Branch

Hey,

I assume that Bell is aware of the cell service dead zone on the border of Toronto and Mississauga near Long Branch station? I take the GO train into Toronto everyday, and every time the train stops at Long Branch station, my cell signal drops out almost entirely...

Thank you for your concern. Cellular signals can drop for many reasons, including tree cover, hills and valleys, overloading of cell sites, distance between cell sites and more. While all providers do their best to deliver a quality radio signal, the cellular radio system can be variable, in spite of the advertising you read, see and hear. I call this the difference between sales and engineering. There is no connection between the Bell Community Forum and Bells technical side, but Bell does monitor for call quality and signal. Thanks for your question.

Can you tell me how to reach Bell's engineering team? I just want to make sure they know about this.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to do so. Radio engineering is extraordinarily complex and involves many factors including frequency management, equipment procurement, property and more. Dead zones are a simple symptom of an ongoing issue which all providers strive to resolve over time.

A quick look at my favourite cell tower map can be useful in understanding cell reception issues. In this case, I see several Bell cell towers within line of sight of the Long Branch Station, including one to the south west of the Long Branch station on top of a multi-story apartment or condo building. It is also a large cell site as in numbers of cells. This suggests that the issue could be tower overloading, as I said, Bell does monitor their cellular radio signals, and remedy them as they are able. That information is not public, for competitive and technical reasons, however. Thanks for your concern.

oh I love that cell tower map!! Explains a lot about the crappy 5G+ service I get at my home. Especially since I moved from Rogers. Check out the Rogers towers around me and the 3 Bell towers!!
