Hi everyone.
Any ideas why my cellular data isn’t working in particular USA state? When I travel to IL my data stops working. I have had a temporary fix by switching from ATT roaming to Tmobil. But now it seems that I cant use my data despite I switch to any other US operator. Have tried everything. Reset my network settings, turn off my phone, remove sim.
There is no problems in any other state or province. Only Illinois

There is no guarantee that there will be coverage & service in all locations. Have you tried to connect manually & select the local networks where you're located? Depending on where you are at & where you are going, & the local network traffic, you may need to repeat this step several times until you capture a working network.
If you are experiencing no service at all in the area you are visiting, then you may receive an SOS message. Please turn off automatic network settings & try to manually select an available network.
Please refer to the Helpful replies with the Green ✔️
Take care.

Travelling in the USA for a few weeks. Today my phone goes to SOS Only mode. I have a CAN / US / MEX plan. This hasn’t happened in previous trips and I’ve done all the turn off and back on options. Any explanations or advice ?

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Communiy Firum.
This can be a result of a few different things, however the majority of the time it's simply due to your phone randomly disconnecting from the network. A quick fix is to fully power off your phone and wait a few minutes and power it back on again. If it doesn't resolve the issue, check your MyBell profile to review your status.
As you are traveling and are outside of Canada, we can't guarantee service in all locations. Have you tried to connect manually & select the local networks where you're located? Depending on where you are at & where you are going, & the local network traffic, you may need to repeat this step several times until you capture a working network.
iOS / iPhone:
- From your Home screen, tap Settings
- Tap Cellular
- Tap Cellular Network or Network Selection
- Tap the Automatic switch to turn off
- Once available, networks will appear. At this point, you may select your desired local carrier.
Android / Samsung:
- From your Home screen, swipe down and tap the Settings icon in the top right
- Tap Connections
- Tap Mobile networks
- Tap the switch to turn Select automatically off
- Once available, networks will appear. At this point, you may select your desired local carrier.
Let us know if everything works out for you & you can connect to a network.
Take care & thank you for posting your question.

This did not work …. 5 networks appeared. My phone would not connect to any of them. I attempted this several times each day. Early morning / late night / a couple times in between. Nothing ever worked. Not sure what good a Bell phone and USA package are if it won’t work here. My wife’s Rogers phone works perfectly.

Hi there, @Traveljunky. Thanks for your posts, and welcome to the Bell Community.
It sounds like you may have a roaming restriction currently on your account preventing you from connecting to mobile networks outside of Canada. We'd recommend taking a look at our thread on How to remove roaming restrictions
and checking out the approved solutions for how to check for these restrictions and how to remove them.
Let us know if you have any further questions. Best wishes.

Been 2 time I go to the states from Canada and phone is always busy. Last time took a day to repair this time say they will call back. I don't know what is the problem but I find to have problem and was not before with other service provider. Looks like AT&T and T-mobile.. is blocking our line from so reason. Not good for our business thinking about changing people think we are closed and they cannot even leave a message on our voicemail.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.
There are any number of reasons as to why you cannot connect while outside of Canada:
- A quick fix is to fully power off your phone and wait a few minutes and power it back on again.
- Have you previously placed a roaming restriction on your mobility account? You can check under My Plan in your MyBell profile to confirm if you have any restrictions on international and/or US calling in place. As an example, you may see "Restrict outgoing international calls" underneath Add-ons and promotional data. If you do see a restriction, you'll need to Bell Customer Service for assistance in having it removed. Once a roaming restriction has been added, it cannot be removed online.
- Have you tried to connect manually & select the local networks where you're located?
To reach Bell Mobility Customer Service call: 1 800 667-0123 or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device to make this change.
Take care.

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the roaming service I experienced during my recent trip to Los Angeles from February 7th to 11th.
As a Toronto resident and a loyal Bell customer who has consistently used your services without previous complaints, this experience was beyond disappointing. Before my departure, I proactively called your customer service to activate my roaming plan and even received a second confirmation to ensure everything was set.
However, upon arriving in the U.S., I found myself completely without service. To make matters worse, my flight was delayed, and I urgently needed to contact my car rental agency and hotel. Due to the lack of roaming, I was left stranded with no way to communicate.
Bell advertises itself as "Canada’s most reliable network," but my experience proves otherwise. After searching online, I discovered that many other Bell users have encountered this exact same issue when trying to roam in the U.S. Furthermore, I noticed a significant flaw in your system: to log into a Bell account from abroad, one needs a verification code sent via text. If the roaming fails, accessing help through your own platform becomes impossible.
Ultimately, I had to purchase a local SIM card to resolve the situation. While I have continued to use Bell because of my past positive experiences, this incident has severely shaken my trust. Given how frequently Canadians travel to or live in the U.S., it is shameful that such a recurring issue remains unaddressed.
I expect a formal explanation for this service failure and a clear plan on how Bell intends to fix these systemic issues.

Thank you for your concern. When travelling there are a number of things you can do to troubleshoot connectivity issues. While this won't change your recent experience, it may help if you are travelling again.
Connectivity troubleshooting tips:
- Restart your device: Turn off your device, wait five minutes, turn it back on, and wait another five minutes. This can often resolve temporary connectivity problems.
- Toggle airplane mode: Turn airplane mode on and off. This can force your device to reconnect to the network.
- Disable data saving features: Disable “Low Data Mode” on iOS devices or “Data Saver” on Android devices. While these features are helpful for conserving data, they can sometimes interfere with connectivity.
- Check the network selection setting: To ensure the best possible network connection, especially when travelling to a new destination, set your device’s network selection setting to “Automatic.” This allows your device to automatically connect to the strongest available network and avoids connection issues. If you want to change the network you’re using, use manual network selection. For instructions on how to change the network, consult the user guide for your device or the tutorials in our mobile device support section – just select your device from the drop-down menu.

Have you got the issue sorted out? I am travelling in US, and experiecing the same issue: IMS not registered. As a result, I am not able to make and receive phone calls. Mobile data and text message are working ok.
I have OnePlus 13 running OxygenOS 16.
I put SIM card of Rogers of my friend's on my phone. IMS registered, and VoLTE works perfectly on T-Mobile and AT&T networks. It is apparently an issue on Bell's network.

Good Day & Welcome.
There are any number of reasons as to why you cannot connect while outside of Canada.
IMS not registered" means your OnePlus 13 phone cannot connect to the carrier’s core network for services like VoLTE (Voice over LTE), Wi-Fi calling, or advanced messaging (RCS) To fix this, try toggling Airplane Mode, restarting your phone, resetting network settings, or reseating the SIM card to refresh connection.
- A quick fix is to fully power off your phone and wait a few minutes and power it back on again.
- Verify that your data is turned on & verify data savings has been turned off. Go to Settings > Mobile Network > Data usage > & turn off Data savings.
Depending on where you are at & where you are going, & the local network traffic, you may need to repeat this step several times until you capture a working network. If you want to change the network you’re using, use manual network selection. For instructions on how to change the network, consult the user guide for your device.
You can reach Bell Mobility Customer Service by Chat or by calling: 1 800 667-0123 or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device.
Take care.

No fix. Oneplus is not on bell's whitelist. So nothing can be done. Basically going to other countries only iphone samsung pixel will work. I called bell tech support and also talked their senior tech, but it seemed they didn't know what's going on.
Now I am with Telus, but I sold my oneplus, i haven't gotten chance to try if it will work with telus.
Thanks to confirm rogers roaming ims works for oneplus.

I never did get it sorted, I travel to the USA often, called Bell many many times, with hours of time trying everything they asked, and nothing. Telus offered me an amazing deal and so went back to them, after 20years absent, and boom everything working, calling, texting, data, volte, amazing 5G speeds, now the usa has bad areas where it slows down, but not like Bell with me missing phone calls texts and really clunky data at the best of times. Sorry Bell just had to leave. It must be a block on Onepluses or something like that, Rogers was similar too years ago but better, Telus just works.
Good luck
