Good day
I was glad to see they added Ultimate streaming quality(Uses about 9 GB/hour..approx. 20 Mbps) .Maybe they can increase it down the road for users with faster internet connections.
What will be the best/highest quality streaming bitrate signal/feed of the entire World Cup series(not just the final)
The TSN app, Fibe TV app , Crave app or CTV app....and will the device matter(Bell Streamer, Apple TV or Google TV OS in a Smart TV)
Cheers

Thank you for your question. I suspect there will be little or no difference in the feed to each app. Using a cell phone to watch the game may be slower and subject to dropped signals because of local high demand/high load. Your best way to watch World Cup games is on a TV with a wired connection to a Bell Giga Hub. Be aware that there may still be delays from the real time game experience. This is caused by
- Video Encoding: Live video feeds from the stadium must be heavily compressed into smaller data packets (like H.264 or HEVC) so they can be sent efficiently over the internet. This complex mathematical compression takes time.
- Content Delivery Networks (CDNs): To prevent constant buffering for millions of viewers, streaming services temporarily store (or cache) the video on localized servers closer to your city. Hopping through these servers adds a few extra seconds of delay.
- Adaptive Bitrate Streaming: If your stream is lagging or stuttering, your streaming app may be deliberately pausing to preload the next few frames of the game. Older traditional cable bypasses this step almost entirely.
- Glass-to-Glass Delay: Even for standard TV channels, different delivery methods (Over-the-Air vs. Satellite vs. Fiber TV vs. OTT Apps) have different transit times. Apps and internet-based TV boxes naturally sit about 30 to 60 seconds behind a live physical event.
These are technical issues which can not be changed. Enjoy the games and cheering on your favourite team!

Good Day & Welcome.
Thank you for contacting the Bell Community Forum.posting your questions.
Your question is somewhat difficult to answer.
Video quality for a FIFA match on Bell Fibe TV depends on four key areas:
- Internet bandwidth
- Broadcaster source resolution
- Your TV hardware & device / box settings.
- Fibe TV is an IPTV (internet-based) service, network congestion and app settings directly affect your stream's clarity.
Bell Fibe streaming for FIFA is available in high definition (HD) and 4K. Live broadcasts often compress fast-moving action like soccer, causing occasional pixelation. You can control and optimize your match-day picture settings to get the smoothest and clearest stream possible.
If you use the Fibe TV App, adjust your video settings to Best to ensure maximum picture clarity. For the sharpest viewing experience, use a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi for your set-top box.
If your TV is 4K compatible and you use a 4K receiver, verify you are subscribed to a 4K channel (like TSN 4K or Sportsnet 4K) and that your streaming quality is set to "Ultimate".
The Bell Fibe TV app is generally better for watching FIFA because it offers greater stream stability and fewer technical errors than the standalone TSN app. However, the exact choice depends on your current subscription.
The Fibe TV app tends to have fewer buffering issues during major sporting events compared to the TSN app. You can pause, rewind, and record matches just like a regular cable box.
The following devices support 4K streaming for the Fibe TV app:
- Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or newer)
- Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K / 4K Max
- Bell Streamer
- Chromecast with Google TV (4K)
- Select 4K smart TVs (including Samsung, LG, and Android-based TVs)
Take care.

To add, during the FIFA World Cup 2026™, Fibe TV will offer select matches in HDR (High Dynamic Range) and Dolby Vision on the TSN 4K and RDS 4K channels, ensuring the highest video quality available. These channels are specifically created for the tournament to deliver richer colours and enhanced detail compared to SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) feeds.
HDR is auto detected when your device and TV support it, and the content is offered in HDR. No manual switching is required in most cases.

Wow..thanks @dks and @WelshTerrier for your technical and honest feedback. A respected TV reviewer said in the USA to watch on the source app(FOX...or TSN here) instead of a tv/satellite app(Direct TV/You Tube TV .. or Fibe TV here ). The case may be different here since Bell indirectly owns TSN. I also remember reading an article where they tested Netflix bitrates on various devices..and cell phones were the lowest(makes sense on a small screen), streaming devices in the middle and Smart TV's were highest.
I will follow the advice of both of you and use the wired ethernet connection on the TV, the Fibe TV app with a Bell Streamer/Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or newer).
Cheers

To be clear, the Bell equivalent of DirectTV is Bell Satellite TV, not a Fibe TV app or device. There will be a lag no matter what device you choose.
