You need wifi/internet with most sticks (Fire, Google etc.).  Smart View mirroring was the only option in areas where there are no internet availability.

Thanks.  That is the same issue for us.  No wifi at the lake and was able to mirror to TV using a ScreenBeam Mini2 until last week.  Hopefully not permanent as Chromecast etc. all require wifi.
