Hi Bell community,

Studying in another country? Taking a long trip? Or maybe you’re just a snowbird. If you’re spending a number of weeks or months out of country, unlocking your Bell phone for use on another network can be helpful.

NOTE: Protecting your new phone from fraud is important to us.

That's why a 60-day security lock is added to a new phone, ensuring that it can only be used on the Bell network. After 60 days from the activation of your phone, it will unlock automatically at no cost.

See if your Bell device is already unlockedOpens in a new tab or window.  If you have an Apple phone purchased after January 1st, 2014 or any other make purchased after November 30th, 2017 and activated on the Bell Network, well then no troubles. Your phone is already unlocked!

If your phone was purchased prior to either of those dates and an unlock is in order, then there are just a few things to check off:

  • Your phone has not been reported lost/stolen
  • Your phone is at least 3G/LTE
  • You have a non-Bell SIM card

Next, you’ll need to know your phone’s IMEI.  Dial *#06# on your phone if you don’t already have it on hand.

Go to the MyBell unlock device pageOpens in a new tab or windowto get started unlocking your phone.

Then, once you’ve got your unlock code, get next steps for unlocking your specific deviceOpens in a new tab or window.
