Unable to receive e-mails using data

My husband and I are unable to receive e-mails when not using wifi, but we can send with zero issues.  I have an Android and he has an Apple phone.  It works for a couple hours then doesn't, and happens every couple days.  Settings are correct on both model of phones, but support says there's no network issues when clearly there is.  Anyone else having these issues? It's getting super frustrating.  Thanks so much!

Oh I am sorry. @Keith Bishop  moved to Rogers. I mistakenly thought it was you.

My limited understanding is this. You have the details of the server and you enter it into your app. You have the password to access the server. The route you take to the server is the same, regardless of the ISP. Meaning, your request to get access goes to the cloud, the cloud directs this request to the server. The server sends to response to the cloud which directs it to your app. That is the simplified mechanics of the connection. It technically should not matter if the original request was sent from a laptop, phone, home internet, cellular etc etc. And this connection mechanics is the same for any website as well. Ahh but it obviously does matter. As a side note, the request to connect to the server carries with it other “Meta Data” like the IP address, the browser used, the app used, version of the browser/app etc. The people who control the server set the rules for the server. If the rules obviously restrict access if the server info /address is incorrect, if the password is incorrect. But in this case, the restrictions are based on MetaData. While there is valid reasons to do this (security), there should also be a door available for legit users.

Just to be sure - these are the credentials for connecting to the Shaw mail server :

The current Shaw IMAP settings are:
• Incoming server:  imap.shaw.ca .
• Incoming port:  993
• Security:  SSL/TLS
• Username: your Shaw email address without  @shaw.ca
• Password: your Shaw email password
For sending mail, Rogers lists the

Shaw SMTP server as  mail.shaw.ca , port  587 , with SSL/TLS or STARTTLS depending on the device. Rogers also notes that IMAP use requires Webmail to be in Classic mode, and that cannot be changed from a mobile device.

Yup, those are my configuration settings.  Funny thing is I've had this Bell plan for close to 2 years now, and it was working problem-free up until, oh I would say around the New Year.

Thank you for your advice and expertise.  I appreciate it.

The rep at the Rogers place I dealt with has had "numerous Bell users switch lately"

Take that for what it's worth, but as soon as my phone rebooted on the Rogers network, all 22 of my emails today (including all of these) showed up in mere seconds.
