Should the WPS Light Be Lit on My Home Hub 3000?

My home hub 3000 showed 2 lights not 3. Is this a new configuration?

@Frustrated George @Benny10 @BellPatricia     the 3 lights have come on my 3000 and checked with my family and they too have all 3 lights on their 3000's!!  Thanks to everyone and I agree, thank goodness there has been no effect on our services!  20261028_082130[1].jpg

Guess what? It's back on. I came down this morning to all 3 lights, the way it was until a week or 2 ago. Interested to see if others found the same

@BellPatricia I still had only 2 lights on this morning when I left, but I walked in this evening and noticed my 3 lights were back on. 👍😀 Go figure!! Though I have no idea what happened.

Same for us this morning. Three lights on again. Looks like the earlier post about 2 lights and the WAN reference may not be correct.

Since the Hub 3000 was installed on my system about 5 years ago, default WPS light behaviour has always been "on". Blog comments indicate change to "off" on or around Oct 23, 2026, which coincide with my observations. As of this morning, Oct 29, default behaviour "on" has been restored. Default "on" makes sense otherwise you wouldn't know the WPS button was even there, except from up close.

According to Gemini:

"The October 23rd Change: Bell pushed an automated software update to Home Hub 3000 modems. This update was intended to alter the default state of the WPS light so that it would remain off unless pairing was active.

The Widespread Confusion: Because these modems have functioned with all 3 lights strictly "on" for the better part of a decade, the sudden change triggered a flood of calls and forum posts from users thinking their modems were failing or that the third LED had burned out. Even Bell’s own community managers and support reps initially gave conflicting answers, trying to figure out if it was a widespread glitch or a planned feature deployment

The Rollback (Oct 29): As noticed this morning, Bell silently pushed out a patch to reverse the change. Due to the volume of user confusion, or perhaps because the update accidentally caused the light to cycle on and off unpredictably rather than staying cleanly shut down, they restored the original firmware logic."

Thank you very much @Jerry3
