Why can't I send email on my new iPhone?

Toast

I just bought an Iphone 17 and transferred my old phone SE to the new phone. Then I transferred my husbands old phone to my old SE. Now neither of us can send outgoing emails on either of these IPhones. However, I am still able to send emails on my PC.    Also, on my IPhones to access my emails, they ask for a password. My password does not work but if I cancel the pop up, I still receive my emails.

Very confusing. Any help would be appreciated.

Good Day & Welcome.

Thank you @Toast for posting your question.

You mentioned that you are experiencing the same issue on both iPhones. You also indicated that you can access your emails on your computer.

Apple backups (iCloud or computer) do not automatically transfer email account passwords or local email contents for most third-party accounts. You will generally need to re-enter your email credentials on the new device.

Passwords for third-party email accounts (such as Outlook, Yahoo, or custom IMAP/POP servers) are often not saved in standard iCloud backups for security reasons; you will likely need to re-enter your passwords

Did you complete the setup of your new iPhone using Quick Start or an iCloud/Computer Restore? If so, to resolve this problem:

  • Open the Mail app.
  • If prompted, re-enter your email password(s) for your accounts.
  • If an account is missing, go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account and sign in manually with your email provider credential.
  • If you are still unable to access the email after a transfer to a new device, you may need to delete the mail account and add it back in as a new account.

FYI Only!

You may wish to reference these Apple support documents for additional details including further steps that you may need to complete in order to finish the transfer process to your new iPhones. E.g. Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Notifications, Bluetooth, etc.

Take care.

Thank you. However, it did not work. I just came from my provider and they could not get it to work either. Waiting for a call from a technician.. Ugh!

Try seeing if this helps: https://forum.bell.ca/t5/internet/bell-email-x-3-not-sending-messages/td-p/114259

Might be an Apple bug.

Good Day.

Thank you @Toast for your reply.

In order to for us to help you more, we need for you to share some additional information.

You mentioned: "I just came from my provider, and they could not get it to work either." Can you please elaborate on this?

Please tell us more about the transfer from old phone to new & the transfer from your husband's phone to your old phone.

I will assume that you transferred and moved the SIM cards to the correct device & everything else is working. E.g. incoming calls, text messaging, etc.

Is this a Bell email account that you are experiencing issues with? You mentioned being able to access your email by using a web browser. Did you delete the mail account on both devices and add it back in as a new account?

Please let us know. We are here to help you.

Take care.
