Roku Ultra Bell Fibe App: Delayed access to recordings vs Apple TV / VIP7802

I just bought a Roku Ultra. I loaded the Bell Fibe-TV app, and that was very easy. But when I tried to watch a recording that had just finished, it's telling me that the recording will be available in 40 minutes. On the VIP7802, and Apple-TV I can begin watching the recording while it's actually still recording. I have checked that I haven't exceeded my storage limit, it's at 15%.

Is the Fibe-TV app on Roku not the same behaviour as on the others? Who is responsible for the this app, Bell or Roku?

Good Day & Welcome

Thank you for posting your question.

Unlike dedicated set-top boxes or Apple TV, you generally cannot start watching a program on Roku while it is still actively recording.

After the show finishes, recordings are typically available for playback & viewing in 30 to 40 minutes.

Playback is available on your device for 60 days. A recording in progress can only be watched after it has been processed. Some recordings may only be available for playback on your receiver.

Take care.

Good Day.

Thank you for your feedback and gracious reply.

Roku Ultra has an intentional 30 to 40-minute cloud processing delay that prevents you from watching recorded shows on the Bell Fibe TV app immediately after or while they are airing. This requires the file to fully close and format before allowing playback.

Unlike dedicated set-top boxes, Roku does not allow you to watch a program while it is actively recording; you must wait 30 to 40 minutes after the show finishes for the file to process. I cannot comment on what Roku support has to say about this delay.

Fibe TV app on Roku TV & devices

Unfortunately, there is little I can do to change the design and processing time requirements for watching a Fibe TV app recording on Roku.

Take care.

Thanks for your reply. I understand what you're saying, but I don't understand why. Since the Bell employees "liked" your response, and it's marked as solved, I guess it's true.

But... The Roku Ultra is a box, just like the VIP7802 (androidtv) and the Apple TV 4K. I can even watch recordings in progress on the web browser Fibe-TV.

Roku support says it's a Bell problem.  If Bell can't fix it because of Roku's architecture, then in the list of "supported devices" they should put the caveat that the PVR has this behaviour. in big red letters.

For me, this is unusable, and I'll return the Roku.
