Samsung Smart TV remote with number pad that works in the Bell Fibe TV app?

I have the Bell Fibe TV app installed on my Samsung Smart TV. The Samsung remote has no numeric keypad, making it extremely tedious to navigate the channel guide.

The remote's Settings/Number/Color button lets me enter numbers, but the entry mode times out so quickly that I can't enter a four-digit channel number.

Has anyone found a replacement remote with a physical numeric keypad that works inside the Bell Fibe TV app on a Samsung TV, allowing direct entry of channel numbers?

I'm specifically looking for a solution confirmed to work with the app, not just a remote that's compatible with the TV.

Thanks!

Good Day & Welcome.

Thank you @Zool for contacting the Bell Community.

I can certainly understand where you are coming from & what you are looking for.

I have three Samsung Smart TVs all of which have the Samsung Smart Solar Remote. The remote's Settings/Number/Color button is somewhat cumbersome & does time out. It is not the easiest to use for channel surfing & selection if you are using a Fibe TV receiver or the Fibe TV app that is available from Samsung online store.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no aftermarket equivalent numeric remote that will combine the best of both worlds. I have unsuccessfully contacted Samsung TV support.

Over the last two years, we have adapted and learned to live with two remotes for each of our TVs that have Bell Fibe TV receivers. We have setup a Favorites channel list on Fibe TV for the channels we watch most often.

If you have a Fibe TV receiver or TV box, the Fibe TV remote will control all of the Samsung TV functions related to the TV's on/off power, volume, channel selection, etc. It does everything we need it to do when we are watching Fibe TV.

We use the Fibe TV app from the Samsung store for one of our Samsung Smart TVs. Our only sources for entry are the remote's Settings/Number/Color buttons or the Search keyboard that is within the app. In this case, it is much faster to scroll through the guide rather than going back and forth entering the numbers from the remote control. We use the Samsung remote control on this TV for everything related to the Samsung TV settings & the store apps including the Fibe TV app. We do not use the remote's Settings/Number/Color buttons to surf and key in channels.

Take care.

I have the same situation with my Sony TV. I use a favourites channel selection to remove channels I don’t watch in the Fibe app.

Thanks for responding. That's definitely an option. I'm also looking at using my iPhone's Bell Fibe TV app as the remote. The guide in it can be scrolled very quickly, so it helps to overcome the slow navigation problem I've encountered. Still looking to see if anyone has had any success with using a third party remote control with the Bell Fibe TV app and their TV.

I have had much less success with third party remotes. The most recent failure was with the now discontinued Logitech Harmony. I have found that my Sony TV remote does play nicely with my Bell Satellite TV remote, but I still have to keep two remotes at hand. The Bell remote does not control volume on the satellite receiver or set. The Sony remote does control volume on the set but not the receiver. The Fibe app alone on the Sony TV (no Fibe device) is controlled by the Sony remote.

Thanks for you insights @WelshTerrier.  I just tried pairing my iPhone to my Samsung TV. The only way that would work is using the Older Bell TV app on my Samsung TV and the Bell Receiver connected to it. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to do it using the new Bell Fibe TV app. The issue with using the receiver is that I still cannot view 4K shows on that TV because they are ported through the receiver and it restricts 4K viewing to only the one main receiver, which is connected to another TV. Oh well, I'm guessing I'll not return the receiver and remote to Bell at this point as I still want to use the keypad on the remote for navigating, If I want to watch 4K shows on this TV, I'll switch to the Bell Fibe TV app and use my Samsung remote to navigate. Not perfect, but doable.
