Some IOT devices such as cameras, speakers, robot vacuums etc. only have a 2.4 GHz radio receiver.
If your Whole Home Hub (HH4000/Giga Hub, HH3000, HH2000) has a single SSID for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz broadcast, that means your Home Hub is dual broadcasting both frequencies simultaneously. Therefore, if your phone and/or app being used to install the IOT device is on the 5 GHz band it will not see the IOT equipment ‘talking’ on the 2.4 GHz frequency during the IOT device initial installation process.
To solve the problem, we must make sure the phone operating the IOT install app and the IOT device are both on the 2.4 GHz band for the initial set up. We’ll need to split the SSID (your Wi-Fi network name) in to individual 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz SSID names.
Using a computer on your home network (disconnect any VPN):
Access the modem by typing 192.168.2.1 and using your SSID password. If it has not been changed, the default password is “admin”
- Click on manage my Wi-Fi
- Put Whole Home Wi-Fi to OFF
- Click Save
- Click Advanced settings
- Uncheck the boxes below to be able to rename the 5 GHz radio
- Temporarily rename the 5 GHz radio, for example by adding a -5G to the name
- Connect your device running the IOT installation app to the 2.4 GHz SSID and you can continue to set up and configure your IOT device.
- Once all IOT devices are configured and installed, your IOT device and app will be connected to the web, therefore you can reverse the steps and place your Home Hub back into a dual broadcast common state.

I have done everything except return the Hub to its original state. Is there any concern after loss of power that you will need to go through all of these steps again in order to reconnect your IOT devices? during the time I've temporarily lost power I've had no problem reconnecting when power is restored, leaving the hub in the dual broadcast state. I have a lot of devices and I really don't want to do it if it's all working the way it is LOL
