How do you create a DHCP Reservation on the Giga Modem?

So I jsut got Bell Fibe and a new Giga Modem. Some devices in my house like my Cameras and TrueNAS server require a static IP address so that their IP address don't change. I would like to leave these devices as DHCP so that it makes configuring them easier then setting an actual static IP address on them then trying to figure out a year later what you set them to if you forgot. So DHCP normally has the abilty to create DHCP reservations so that IP address is always reserved for that device essentually giving it a Static IP address on your home network! I am very tech smart so be as detailed as you want. I cannot see this option when logged into the Modem by IP address or when using the Bell Wifi app!

Go in to 'My Devices'  Find the device and then edit it's settings. There you can change it's IP Type from 'Dynamic' to 'Reserved' based on MAC address of the device.

What @Vanadiel wrote.

Log into your modem. Open My Devices. Look for the device(s) for which you want to reserve. Edit the setting to Reserved. I also suggest you give the devices an alias. It may help identify the device a year from now, which would be important for some devices. In the screenshot below I haven't reserved the IP address, because it's an oven 😋

What to do when you get Reserved IP Address already in use. I have tried changing it but same results.

@EddieF   I'm not sure I understand what you're dealing with. You should be seeing all the network-connected devices, along with their MAC and IP addresses. You can change any device from an unreserved (dynamic) IP address to a reserved address.

So the message you got is very odd, considering that you you're not changing the IP address itself but rather its status to reserved.

where the heck is my devices there is no option on my modem for my devices only my services

What is the model number of your home hub?

If you follow page 1 and 2 of this tutorial it will bring you to page 3, and you will see the "my devices" box on that web page.

Yesterday I got a new device with the intention of replacing another, which had a reserved IP set via My Devices > pencil icon. I tried simply setting the IP to the new device once I connected it to the network, and it complained about it, which makes sense as I had not taken the IP off of the old device. I then set the screen to show the disconnected devices, clicked on the old one and set it to a dynamic IP. Went back to the new one, couldn't set it, because it said the new IP was in use. I then tried to 1) forget all disconnected devices; 2) wait 12 hours before attempting again; 3) rebooting the modem; and none of those things are allowing me to set the IP to the new device. In fact, I try to set ANY IP to ANY device on DHCP, it doesn't allow me to. Any idea what's going on?

If you read my post, I narrate that I am doing exactly what is suggested above, and I'm getting an error saying the IP was in use.

Is the MAC address the same as the previous device?

Hi Guys,

Two years ago I was able to set some static/reserved IP addresses on this Giga Hub. I have 5 cameras and some other devices that I need to have with a reserved/static IP, because sometimes the cameras get a random IP and my NAS is not able to get any stream because it is pointing to a fixed IP. For 4 months now I'm trying to configure some reserved IP addresses for these cameras and my NAS, but the Giga hub says "the settings were not saved" or "that IP is already in use" when it's not. FYI, the Giga hub is doing DHCP, but I'm not using its Wifi, as this modem was installed in my basement, so I have another wireless router that handles 3 different Wifi networks. This TP-Link guy is in the 1st floor. I don't think this router is the issue, because I installed before assigning those reserved IPs.

Thanks for your question. Directions for configuring the Giga Hub for a reserved IP can be found here. Specifically, see the helpful replies with a green check mark. Bell consumer internet service does not provide a static IP as that is a business level service feature provided at an additional cost.
