Internet speeds are slow in Barrhaven Ontario

Is there a reason why the internet is painfully slow over the last few weeks in Barrhaven Ottawa Ontario? I’m about to switch providers because I pay far too much for such god awful service. I can’t even load pages on my phone and work calls and cloud storage uploading and downloading, forget it. Love to know what’s going on because it wasn’t always this bad.

Good day @Sjc

Welcome to the Bell community 🙂

We are here to help, and would like to get a bit more information. To start, please share screen shots of your speed test, one from the modem GUI (192.168.2.1) and one from the device you are using via the Bell Speed TestOpens in a new tab or window

Please let us know:

  • Which internet package you have.
  • Which modem you are using.
  • Are you experiencing slow speeds on both Wi-Fi and Ethernet?

What troubleshooting have you tried so far? We have a great support page that can walk you through troubleshooting step by step. Take a look at Troubleshoot Internet speedOpens in a new tab or window

You can also use the Bell Wi-Fi appOpens in a new tab or window to check the strength of the signal on your devices, and our Virtual repair toolOpens in a new tab or window can help detect issues with your internet connection.

We hope to hear from you soon,

@BellPatricia

It would be awesome if I could attach visuals right now but I can’t so, my package is gigabit fibre 1.5. Download speed currently 1.66 mbps and 3.06 mbps upload. I also have a google mesh to try to help and that is the speed with all of that in place.

Hey there @Sjc

Thank you for your reply.

When you do have a chance please share those photos with us so the community can take a closer look.

We also recommend trying the troubleshooting suggestions above, and then let us know how everything is working.

@BellPatricia

I have no clue why these images will help you understand the speed and my plan more than me typing it….but sure.

Hi @Sjc
Are you able to perform and share a speed test result directly through the modem GUI?
You can access the modem GUI by typing " 192.168.2.1 " into a web-browser. Your password will either be " admin ", a password you created (if you ever changed it) or your modem serial number which can be found on the back of your modem. Once logged into your modem, you would select the "Speed test" option.

For best results, it's best to check the "block all local network activity" before clicking "Start test".

Looking forward to hearing back.
