Problems accessing Bell Email

Hi everyone. Since yesterday afternoon (Sept 16), I have been unable to access my Bell (Sympatico) e-mail from my app or the web browser.

I contacted Bell technical support and was told that there is an issue with their systems.

I was wondering if this problem is persisting. And if there any updates that anyone can share. Thank you.

Yes, it has been cleared up for me, as well.

Hello  @BellPatricia

I'm glad to hear that others have had this issue resolved, but I have been unable to access my Sympatico email on my iPhone or my iPad since late August, when it seems many of us had issues and Bell acknowledged a problem. I was unable to access email on my laptop (MacBook Air) either at first, but that was quickly resolved.

I've gone through clearing the cache, quitting, restarting, deleting the account and trying to add it again, with no results. The message I get is "Password incorrect. Enter the password for the IMAP account 'Sympatico.'" When I got to Settings > Apps > Mail > Account settings, and make sure the Incoming mail server matches the one shown on Bell's website and enter the password I am able to use on my laptop, I get the same "Password incorrect" message.

Help!

Good Day & Welcome

Thank you @Sue_H for posting your question.

As a starting point, have you tried to access your Sympatico mail by logging into the Bell Webmail page using your full Sympatico email address and password via a web browser? If not, please do so.

If you are unable to login to your webmail account with a browser there can be any number of factors that can result in this to occur. e.g. Incorrect email & password entered, number of failed login attempts, Bell email server authentication issue, etc.

To start off with, please check & confirm that you are entering the correct email address and password. (Passwords are case sensitive.) Now attempt to login to your email using a browser. If this fails, try a different browser. If this login fails as well, reset your password.

  • Make sure you type your full Bell email address and password correctly.
  • Clear your browser cache, cookies, history & the saved password for this account.
  • Restart your browser.
  • Try logging back into Bell webmail with your browser. If you receive a "You have entered invalid credentials. Please try again." message, please select the option: "Forgot password"
  • Fill in your email address and follow the on-screen prompts to reset your password.
  • After changing your password, try logging back to your webmail by entering your new password manually. If this once again fails, you should contact Bell Tech support. Please call: 1 866 310-BELL (2355)

If you are successful in logging to your email account, update the new password & test your email account on each of your Apple devices. If unsuccessful, remove & reinstall the email account & restart your iPhone / iPad using your new password.

Thanks for the suggestions! Yes, I have tried logging in from the Bell Webmail page with the correct email and password and got the "invalid credentials" message. I don't want to change the password AGAIN because it's currently working for my laptop and I don't want to risk losing my only way of accessing mail. As I said, I've gone through the whole remove and reinstall, restart, etc.

I did spend about an hour with Bell Tech Support yesterday and it seems to be a server issue. Someone is supposed to call me back so fingers crossed.
