Understanding the iOS 17 Live Voicemail Feature
iOS 17 has brought a new Live Voicemail feature to your iPhone, allowing you to read a real-time transcript of a voicemail as the caller is recording it.
Important Information
Here are a few things you should know about how Live Voicemail interacts with your Bell service:
- Live Voicemail is automatically activated when you update to iOS 17.
- When active, your current voicemail greeting is replaced with a generic system message.
- If you subscribe to basic Message Centre voicemail
(not iPhone Visual Voicemail
), calls intercepted by Live Voicemail can only be accessed through your iPhone’s Phone app. You cannot access them by dialing your mobile number as you normally would.
How to Disable Live Voicemail
To continue using your basic voicemail, prevent data consumption while roaming, or simply turn the feature off, Live Voicemail must be disabled.
- Go to Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap Phone.
- Tap Live Voicemail.
- Slide the Live Voicemail toggle to the off position.
