Unable to connect to local network while roaming

Why am I not able to connect to any local network in India when My data roaming is on and I have turned off all restrictions? 
while checking in coverage map it does show services available in India but when I login into my application it shows ineligible country for the plan but at least I should be able to use Pay per Use as it shows ineligible for roam better.

Paid for out of country plan but can’t phone local which was whole point.

@Formtool Which country are you travelling in at this time? Is there mobility coverage in that locale?

When you turn on your device, it should automatically connect to the strongest available network.

Connectivity troubleshooting tips:

  • Restart your device: Turn off your device, wait five minutes, turn it back on, and wait another five minutes. This can often resolve temporary connectivity problems.
  • Toggle airplane mode: Turn airplane mode on and off. This can force your device to reconnect to the network.
  • Disable data saving features: Disable “Low Data Mode” on iOS devices or “Data Saver” on Android devices. While these features are helpful for conserving data, they can sometimes interfere with connectivity.
  • Check the network selection setting: To ensure the best possible network connection, especially when travelling to a new destination, set your device’s network selection setting to “Automatic.” This allows your device to automatically connect to the strongest available network and avoids connection issues.
  • If you are unable to automatically connect to a network, try to connect to a local network manually. For instructions on how to change the network, consult the user guide for your device or the tutorials in Bell's mobile device support section – just select your device from the drop-down menu.

I am having this same problem in England. I went to an Apple store and a helpful employee did all those things. She pointed out: "Physical SIM Network Not available" and said there was something wrong with my SIM card. The wifi calling won't work either and the Bell Chat doesn't start until 2 hours from now!

This phone has travelled before and now this happened suddenly. It is a fairly new phone too!

Okay, good to know.

Actually I figured out the problem (after I spent 40 GBP buying a local SIM card) - I needed to get a 'border guard' put on my phone because it kept connecting to the US when I wasn't there. Anyone who lives near the border needs to remember that when they do travel, they need to remove this. I also want to share that the cost of the local SIM card was less than the roaming charge from Bell would have been, but my international calling minutes are limited.

Just a couple of suggestion for next time. Before you travel, review your mobility plan and add-ons. By doing so, this may have eliminated some of your problems. For example:

  • Roaming & International travel restrictions.
  • Bell mobility travel pass. E.g. Europe 14-day or 30-day Travel Pass, etc. 
  • Call Bell Mobility or visit a Bell store to find out what will best meet your needs.
  • As a member of the Bell Community Forum; do not hesitate to ask a question and or seek out advice.

I tend to get data only eSIMs for where I’m travelling to. It is definitely cheaper than roaming charges with Bell. The drawback is that you cannot use your phone to make or receive calls. But you can use WhatsApp. You cannot get or send text messages but can get messages on WhatsApp. There is a huge problem with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), but with a little planning, you can switch from phone authentication to email or Authenticator - which both work.
