Unsubscribe from Roam Better

It was as easy as sending a text message to subscribe to Roam Better.

However, Bell makes it insiduously difficult to unsubscribe (probably in the hope you forget your setting and pay a 14$/day fee next time you travel with your SIM card and you forget you had the service on: it will charge you as soon as any app on your phone ping the network, which means almost certainly every day of your travel).

The MyBell app (mobile or web) does not permit you to deactivate the feature, what gives? Bell wants you to *contact them* to unsubscribe. Seems very dishonest to me!

Anyone knows if there is a text message option to unsubscribe, just like the one that allows you to subscribe?

For your reference, once you've enrolled in Roam Better, you will be covered for all future trips and will only be charged on days when you use your phone in a Roam Better destination. You will not be charged when you are not roaming. If you'd like to unsubscribe, please contact usOpens in a new tab or window

So here’s the trick everyone is looking for. 

The cancel or unsubscribe to Roam Better, simply text REMOVEROAM to 8000. You’ll immediately get a response confirming the cancellation. 

just did it and it works fine.

That’s fair. Actually I been a BELL customer for years. This service is ensuring the usage of data with free worries so don’t complain. Just turn off roaming and would be fine if we don’t want to be charged.

I live in Canada, have can-US/INTL text - 500. Upgraded to BYOD 200GB US/MX MAX so to not need the roaming addon but am still being billed for it and can't remove the addon because it is no longer offered. Do I need to call and speak to someone?

The Bell Mobility Roaming addon is only billable when activated while travelling outside of Canada. If your existing plan includes unlimited calling, texting & data in Canada, US and Mexico, then your plan will override & take precedence. You will not be billed for Roaming while travelling in these countries.

If you wish to remove the Roaming addon in its entirety, you will need to contact Bell Mobility Customer Service by: 

Chat or by calling: 1 800 667-0123 or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device.

  1. Ask the Bell Mobility representative to unsubscribe you completely or
  2. To place a restriction on roaming that allows you to activate roaming on a need be basis.

 This can be removed immediately while you are online with the service representative.

I did try that but the service advisor wasn't interest or didn't know how to do it. She wanted to sell me a new phone and plan. Luckily someone had posted on here to text removeroam to 8000 and that worked. Thanks to people that know tricks.

As I mentioned previously, the Bell Mobility Roaming addon is only billable when activated while travelling outside of Canada.
