Is it necessary to replace my smartcard?

My online MyBell account under manage my receivers shows my Smartcard number with a link to click Replace SmardCard- it is necessary to replace my smartcard? I have the 9241 - HD PVR Plus Receiver  and seems to be working fine except for one channel 70 CTV Montreal that is glitching.  Should I replace the smartcard ?Would I get a new smartcard in the mail?  Would my old card work until I get the new one? Also, my HD PVR 9241 is about years 10 years old and is still in good condition, but if in the future I am having issues, can I replace with a free simple receiver like 6500 - HD Single Tuner.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

I will try to answer Bell Satellite TV questions as best I can:

  1. It's important to replace the Smartcard if you are experiencing interruptions in your programming. If you are not experiencing programming interruptions, then there is no need for you to replace your Smartcard.
  2. The Smartcard information shown on your MyBell account is the registration / activation serial number linked to your 9241 - HD PVR Plus Receiver.
  3. If you are experiencing Bell Satellite TV issues, you would contact Bell Satellite TV Tech support at: 1 888 759-3474  The customer service agent would test & analyze your system & determine the next steps that would need to be taken to resolve any issues that you would be experiencing. If there is a need to replace your Smartcard, he will arrange to send one to you.
  4. If a receiver is deemed to be no longer supported, any hardware issues are no longer covered and should a replacement receiver be required, you would need to purchase or rent a supported model.
SD receivers are in the process of being phased out. If you had an SD receiver registered on your account, you would have received a notice from Bell about upgrading to an HD receiver. This upgrade would have been provided to you.
  5. Should there be a future requirement to replace your 9241 - HD PVR Plus Receiver, you would need to purchase or rent a supported model. The 9500 Whole Home PVR & 7500 Whole Home Receiver are the current models.

Hi there -I am a customer of Bell Canada Satellite TV for almost 20 years and I am experiencing an issue with my 9241 HD PVR receiver. Channel 713 (Antenna 1) occasionally goes dark or freezes. This is the only channel affected. My other receiver (6500 HD single tuner) in another room works properly on the same channel, so I do not believe the problem is related to the satellite dish or signal- My neighbour has a similar issue as well.

I am wondering if the 9241HD PVR model may no longer be fully compatible with this channel anymore. I have rebooted the receiver in the past, although not recently. I want to know if I should replace the smart card, and if there would be a fee  or if this receiver model is still supported -If there are any charges for replacement for an upgrade even if it is a basic receiver- Additionally, the remote control does not always function properly, even after replacing the batteries.

As a senior on a limited budget and a customer for almost 20 years, I am concerned about possible costs. If the receiver is failing and the remote, would I qualify for a no-charge upgrade or replacement (for example, a basic 6500 HD single tuner with remote)

Thank you very much and I look forward to your response.
