Jays Games on SportsNet Buffering when using Fibe TV app on Firestick

Hey everybody!

I watch the Jays games on the SportsNet channels thru the Bell Fibe app on my Firestick. The last few games I’ve had crazy issues with the feed skipping, or the sound will de-sync or the screen will go black and you can hear but not see anything. I’m constantly having to exit to the guide and reload but that doesn’t always fix it and then I have to turn off the TV. The game tonight has been on less than an hour and I’ve already had to refresh it 6 times.

I have no issues with any other channels and if I turn it on, on my phone I have no issues. It only seems to be when I watch on my Firesticks (I have two on two different TVs).

Anyone else having a similar issue and figure out a fix? Watching on my phone really isn’t a great time

Good Day & Welcome.

Thank you for posting your question.

There are many factors that can cause buffering on your Fire TV Stick. It can often be a Wi-Fi issue or something so simple as a reboot or space issue on your Firestick.

Which Bell Internet package do you subscribe to? Buffering can be affected by the number of connected devices, e.g. bandwidth utilization, connections type, interference, distance, etc.

Please have a look at the following. I am hoping one of these suggestions will resolve your buffering issue.

  1. Have you tried to restart your Fire TV Sticks? You can do this in Settings > My Fire TV. You can do a restart by removing the power cord, waiting 20 sec., then plugging your Firestick back in.
  2. Streaming apps on your Firestick save temporary files to speed up loading, but over time, they can pile up and slow things down. Go to Settings > Applications > Clear all Application Caches to delete them or as a minimum, Select > Manage Installed Applications. Select > Fibe TV app & click "Clear data," which completely resets the app.
  3. Run a speed test to check the Wi-Fi performance. Fire Sticks have a built-in tool for this. Go to Settings.  Select > Network.  Your connected network will be displayed.  Select > Play / Pause button. On the next screen, Select > Run Speed Test. Check out > Connection Status Recommendations. The Fibe TV App: Requires a minimum of 15 Mbps for optimal performance.  Higher bandwidth (50 Mbps or more) is advised for multiple devices.
  4. Check that the Fire Stick is fully updated. Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About. Select > Check for Updates.
  5. If your Firestick is running low on storage or struggling to keep up with playback, it's going to buffer more often. You can try clearing up the storage by removing apps you don't use anymore. This will ensure that there's enough space for streaming to run smoothly.
  6. If the problem persists, you can do a factory reset. This completely resets your Fire Stick and lets you start from scratch as if it were new. Go to Settings > My Fire TV > Reset to Factory Defaults. You'll need to reinstall apps and re-add your accounts when it restarts.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Take care.
