Bell Mail - double click on to open emails

Why is it necessary to double click on to open emails?

Thanks for your post, and welcome to the Bell Community.
When using Bell Webmail, there are a couple of options available for opening and viewing an email.
 

• A single click will open the email for you to view within the same window.
• A double click will open the email in a new window.

A single click only highlights the email but does not open it, A double click opens it in a new window.

Good Day, after you have logged in to your Bell email account, what do you see?  Which View are you using?

At the top of the page, right side is a a selection called: Preview pane. Select > List. Go back to your Inbox. Select a Message. This should work.

Note: Ensure your Web page is wide enough to display the message & that your default mouse settings have not been altered.

Yesterday my email changed.  I now have to open emails (in webmail) by double clicking the message, and then it opens in a new box.  Why has this changed?  Can I do something about it?  Using Chrome as my internet browser.

Thank you for posting your question. I suspect that you have inadvertently change a window setting within your Bell webmail browser window.

After you have logged in to your Bell email account, what do you see?  Which View are you using? At the top of the page, right side is a selection called: View (Preview pane). Select > List. Go back to your Inbox. Single click on a message. This will work for you.

As @BellPatricia mentioned in an earlier reply, when using Bell Webmail, there are a number of options available for opening and viewing an email. E.g. Vertical, Horizontal, & List views, etc.

• A single click will open the email for you to view within the same window.
• A double click will open the email in a new window.
