How do you upgrade your modem to Giga Hub 2.0?

Giga Hub 2.0 was announced today and the press releases stated existing customers can upgrade to the Giga Hub 2.0.

How do you do that?

I called on Friday to put an my modem upgrade and was told I could order it on the Bell App. All went smoothly. I received an email confirming it would be shipped in 3/5 days. The next morning a technician came to install it but I was not home. I called to find out the issue was and was told to reschedule an appointment that I never scheduled in the first place. 3 phone call later and 2 from Bell Resoultion to try and get this done. This process took way too long and was very complicated.  I’m wondering what bell loyalty could do for you? Anyone?

Thanks for your comment. You might wait for a few days to see if the modem you ordered arrives. Once you have it, read and follow the installation instructions. Call 1-866-310-2355 if you have issues.

Were you able to move to GH2.0? If yes, how is it compare to the HH4000? Did you get a credit for it? Were you able to ship back the old modem for free? Sorry for tons of questions. I would like to move to the GH2.0 but i want to make sure it is worth the call.

Hey @K123

Welcome to the Bell community 🙂

We wanted to check in to see if you were able to upgrade your modem. To learn more about the Giga Hub 2.0 and check to see it is available in your area you can also take a look at our blog: Giga Hub 2.0 from BellOpens in a new tab or window

Keep us posted!

Thinking of making the move to Wi-fi 7. Currently have the Gigahub 1.0, two wi-fi 6E pods on the 8Gb plan.

On the MyBell app, it indicates that the Gigahub 2.0 is available with the 6E pods. Are wi-fi 7 pods coming soon? I see on a Bell internet support page that there's also a TP-link wifi 7 hub and am wondering what the use case is?

When I upgrade, I want to do so comprehensively rather than get the Gigahub 2.0 now and other pieces later. Thank you.

Good Day & Welcome.

Thank you for reaching out and posting your question.

The Giga Hub 2.0 modem with Wi-Fi 7 is available now on all Bell Pure Fibre Internet plans for new and existing customers. You can confirm your eligibility by visiting Bell.ca or your local Bell store.

To check availability, you can do so online by logging in to your MyBell account & verifying whether you can upgrade your existing Internet plan and or change the modem on your existing plan to a Gigabit Hub 2.0 for a onetime charge.

The Wi-Fi 6E pods are compatible with the Gigabit Hub 2.0. Bell does not post new equipment releases & enhancements in advance on this website. We are not aware of any Wi-Fi 7 pods being tested at this time.

Take care,

Thank you. I am content to wait.

Does anyone know if these hubs are meant to replace the 6E pods? And how to obtain them? TIA

It's my understanding based on news articles that these are only available in select areas.

See here.

Thank you. The article you referred to dealt with the Gigahub 2.0 modem, not these hubs:

Unfortunately the URL you posted does not resolve and times out. Plume, the Bell pod supplier, has a WiFi7 pod, called a SuperPod, but I can't say if Bell will adopt these.

Thank you. I was aware of the Plume wi-fi 7 pods and since Bell isn't offering them I wondered if they had gone a different direction with the hubs I posted an image of from a support page (which could be a TP-Link product but I'm not sure). In any event I have since been able to get in touch with Bell and the rep confirmed that they do not have a wi-fi 7 extender of any type. So I will continue to wait.

Thanks for the update. You are correct. Bell does not offer any Wi-Fi 7 pods at the moment. It may be helpful to recall that Plume, Bell's pod provider, no longer offers pods in the retail environment and only provides pods to providers directly. Plume also has a working agreement with Sagemcom and other hub manufacturers (including other Canadian internet providers) to connect their pods to hub devices such as the Giga Hub.

Another option would be to purchase a WiFi 7 third party solution. It has the benefit of not being tied to the Bell eco system.

This can also be a negative, pending on how tech savvy you are. But typically those solutions and plug and play.

This is what I did. Do not use advanced DMZ as it proves to be unreliable.  Plug in your router/mesh of choice and setup PPPoE with your Bell account information and off you go.
