I have my own domain and I use its email for everything important, plus it helps me track which companies are sharing/selling my email.
Ever since I switched to Bell (recently), I can only receive my email from my domain if I either use a VPN or turn off my Wi-Fi and use my phone's data plan.
I can't find anything saying Bell port blocks, in fact the only thing I can find is that they block port 25 which has to do with sending email, not receiving email. Can anyone confirm that Bell is blocking port 995? And if they are not, any suggestions on how to get my email to work without having to turn on a VPN multiple times a day?
Thank you.

Hey there @BobbyScore
Welcome to the Bell community, and thank you for reaching out 🙂
We can understand your concern, and we will do our best to help you further.
- Do you get a specific error message when you try to receive your email?
- Does your mail server have any firewall rules set up?
- Are you using third party equipment with your current set up?
- Which modem do you have?
- Have you tried opening port 995 within the settings in your modem GUI?
- What troubleshooting steps besides using a VPN have you tested so far?
If you are connected via third party equipment we recommend testing by connecting directly to your Bell modem (via Ethernet if possible) to see if the issue persists.
You should also reach out to your hosting provider to ensure there are no auto blocks in place on their end preventing you from receiving the email.
Let us know how everything goes.

Hi, Patricia, thank you for the reply. Prior to switching to Bell I never had this issue for the 20+ years I was with my previous provider, so nothing has changed on my end or in my settings.
My equipment from you is the Giga Hub 2.0. When I attempt to check my email, there is no error message, it just skips those accounts and makes it appear there is no email. Then when I turn on the VPN and check again it actually checks the account for email.

Hey there @BobbyScore
Can you clarify if your mail server has any firewalls set up? Are you able to send email without issue? Who is your web hosting/mail server provider?
Does your device use IPv6? You could try temporarily disabling IPv6 on your device and then test to see if that is the culprit.
We also still recommend testing further by using a direct Ethernet connection. And, reach out to your hosting provider to ensure there are no auto blocks in place on their end, or any issues preventing you from receiving emails.
