Text messages from Android to iPhone

Hello,

I just upgraded to a Samsung S22. I am able to send text messages to iPhone but when an iPhone sends me a text my phone doesn't receive the message. Am I missing something in settings? Please let me know.

Good Day & Welcome.

Thank you for reaching out to the Bell Community Forum.

Is this a recent issue that you are now experiencing? Is this a new device that you are experiencing this issue with? Did you make any changes to your SIM or eSIM? Can you make outgoing calls to other devices?

The reason you're not able to send to non-iPhone users is that they don't use iMessage. It sounds like your regular (or SMS) text messaging isn't working, and all your messages are going out as iMessages to other iPhones. When you try to send a message to another phone that doesn't use iMessage, it won't go through. If you go to Settings > Messages, see if "Send as SMS" is turned on.

  • Do a restart of your iPhone. Once completed, verify that your iOS is up to date.
  • Go in to your Settings > Messages and do either of the following:
  1. If IMessages is toggled to on, go further down to SMS and ensure it is also toggled to On. This will help ensure that if a message can’t be delivered by IMessage it should be delivered by SMS.
  2. Another option to test is to toggle IMessage to off and ensure both SMS and MMS are toggled to on. This would force all messages to be sent by SMS/MMS. (Keep in mind there are size limitations to your messages sent this way!)

If this does not resolve your problem, then this sounds to me to be an issue that requires Bell Mobility Tech support assistance. You should contact Bell Mobility tech support to resolve this matter. Your device may require a Bell Mobility carrier update. If you are in the vicinity of a Bell Mobility store, I would have the store representative test your SIM / eSim.

Just a quick heads up. The newest versions of the iOS software have a slightly different Settings path. Changes to iMessage settings are found in Settings ==> Apps ==> Messages.
