Can I sell my hd receiver?

Good Day.

Thank you for posting your question.

Which Bell TV service does your brother subscribe to? Fibe TV or Satellite TV. Is your brother renting this equipment from Bell? If so, then it must be returned to Bell.

If he is cancelling his Bell TV service, he will need to contact Bell Customer Service and provide them with a disconnect date.

The Bell TV PVR will be linked to your brother’s account. If the equipment belongs to Bell, your brother would be charged a non return fee if the PVR  is not returned to Bell within 30 days of his service being cancelled.

I would suggest that your brother contact Bell Customer Service to discuss this with a representative to cancel or make changes to his Bell TV account. Call:  1 866 310-BELL (2355) or dial #611 from any Bell mobile device

Take care.

I have removed a receiver from my account.  I don't need it anymore and want to sell it.  Even though it has been removed from my account, do I still need to de-activate it? And if I have to de-activate it, how do I do that once it is no longer showing up in my account?

Good Day & Welcome

Thank you for posting your question.

This is a peer-to-peer website. As such, we do not have access to your account and billing records. I will try my best to answer your question based on the limited details you have provided.

Yes, you can remove a receiver from your Bell TV account, by logging into your MyBell online account. Navigate to your TV service. Select > My equipment. Select > the specific receiver. Select > Deactivate receiver. Select > Remove receiver.

  • What is the model of the TV receiver that you wish to sell?
  • Is this a Fibe TV or Satellite TV receiver?
  • Did you purchase this receiver from Bell or from another supplier? Is this a rental receiver that is no longer being billed?
  • If you own this receiver, you can deactivate & remove a receiver from your TV account on MyBell. Removing your equipment without cancelling may not stop billing.
  • If the equipment belongs to Bell & needs to be returned, you can use the Bell - Equipment return to generate a prepaid shipping label.

You may wish to call Bell at 1 866 310-BELL (2355) to confirm the ownership & account status for this receiver before you sell it. This receiver will have a label affixed to the bottom that identifies the make, model, serial number and MAC identifier number.

Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us once again.

I removed the receiver before I deactivated it.  Is this going to be a problem when I sell it to the next person?  The equipment is no longer a rental.  It has been paid for a long time ago.

Good Day.

Unfortunately, I cannot answer your question, "Is this going to be a problem when I sell it to the next person"? I wish I could, but this is not possible until you provide some further details. Please tell us more in order for us to help you more.

Is this a Fibe TV or Satellite TV receiver? Did you purchase this receiver outright or did you rent this receiver as I am describing:

The monthly rental fee for each receiver drops off of your bill if you meet the following criteria:

  • Rental term is month to month: If you rent your receiver without default for 60 consecutive months, you may continue to use it at no charge for as long as you are a Bell TV customer. The receiver remains Bell’s property. You may terminate your rental at any time provided you return the receiver (early termination fees on programming may apply). Receivers may be new or refurbished at Bell’s choice.
  • You should be able to see where you are at in terms of the number of months you have rented in the 60 continuous months.
  • After the 60 months, the rental charge for that specific piece of equipment will be automatically removed from your bill & will no longer show up on your account.

To be safe, call Bell. If this was a rental, then yes, this could be a problem. If you purchased this receiver outright, then no.

You may wish to call Bell at 1 866 310-BELL (2355) to confirm the ownership & account status for this receiver before you sell it. This receiver will have a label affixed to the bottom that identifies the make, model, serial number and MAC identifier number.

Hi there @Leanne2

Thank you for reaching out to the Bell community 🙂

I wanted to jump in here to clarify—if the receiver has already been fully removed from your Bell account, you don’t need to separately “de‑activate” it. Once removed, it’s considered released for re‑activation by someone else. Just keep in mind that you can only sell the receiver if it was purchased outright, not rented, and Bell isn’t expecting it back.

Have a nice day,

@BellPatricia

Thank you so much for answering my question!
