Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

Thank you for posting your question. Can you please provide us with some further information?

  • Which Bell TV service you do subscribe to?  Fibe TV, Fibe TV App or Satellite TV.
  • Which TV package do you subscribe to?
  • Are you trying to access a sporting event from another location that has been regionally blacked out?
  • How are you accessing these channels? Web browser, mobile device, tablet, media player, etc.
  • Are you trying to access these channels from outside of Canada?

There are specific limitations when streaming using the Bell Fibe TV app. For example, if you are outside your local viewing area, regional blackouts may apply to local channels. This is primarily due to licensing restrictions for out-of-home streaming.

Bell's broadcasting rights for your home television do not extend to mobile or remote viewing. When not connected to your Bell Home Wi-Fi, the Fibe TV app has a reduced lineup of channels, including certain local CBC stations. Not all stations that you subscribe to are viewable when you are away from home.

When streaming Fibe TV and the Fibe TV app using a Wi-Fi network other than your home network, please note these limits:

  • Fibe TV: Up to three devices can stream, but only one can watch live TV at any given moment.
  • Fibe TV App: A maximum of two devices can stream simultaneously; however, only one can watch live television.

Here is a link to better assist you in using the Fibe TV App:

Take care.

Good morning everyone, and thank you for reaching out to the Bell community 🙂

While CBC isn’t available to watch outside your home Wi‑Fi network, you can still access their content through the CBC streaming service CBC GemOpens in a new tab or window .

You can also use your PVR to record live shows that you may want to watch later on.

Have a great day,

@BellPatricia

Good Day & Welcome.

Thank you for reaching out and posting your concern.

As my colleague @dks mentioned, "I can't comment on what has happened in the past. I can only attempt to explain how things are in the present."

TV viewing is continually changing. Like everything in life, television is evolving with time. TV is undergoing a massive transformation, shifting from passive, scheduled broadcasting to personalized, streaming-first experiences.

  • Yesterday, today was tomorrow and tomorrow, today will be yesterday.

While CBC isn’t available for you to watch outside your home Wi‑Fi network, you can still access their content through the CBC streaming service: Live TV | Ottawa | CBC Gem

You can also use your PVR to record live shows that you may wish to watch later on.

Take care

CBC Ottawa (1205) is not available on my bell fibe app outside of my home internet. Always was before and this is a basic channel.

Same problem here. The local CBC station, which used to work fine, is now unavailable. That means Hockey Night in Canada, which used to be a staple, is noe unavailable.

This has happened before. Without warning, my app coud suddenly not access NBC. ABC, CBS, even TVO.

And the price for access actually increased, to get fewer channels.

Since Bell customers are paying top dollar for Bell service, then Bell should be paying tge license fees to accommodate the services for which their customers are paying.

At the very least, if a license expires and Bell doesn't re-sign for a new license, then customer bills should decrease in line with the poorer service.

Good Dsy.

Thank you for posting your question. Are you trying to watch Hockey Night in Canada using the Fibe TV app? Are you at home or are you trying to watch this station from another location?

Issues viewing the Stanley Cup Playoffs on the Fibe TV app can be due to regional broadcasting restrictions, licensing agreements, or location-based blackouts enforced by the NHL.

Some live TV channels (particularly those showing sports) are restricted to your home IP address. You cannot view them on the Fibe TV app while on mobile data or using a different internet connection.

Local CBC channels may be unavailable on the Bell Fibe TV app due to content licensing restrictions and broadcast rights, particularly when viewing away from home or via cellular data. While you may subscribe to the channel on your home receiver, licensing agreements prevent some live channels from streaming outside your local Bell network.

Some live TV channels (particularly those showing sports) are restricted to your home IP address.

I have included the following web link that will provide you with any further details you may require.

Fibe TV app setup, and instructions on to use it.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

The restrictions are not due to licensing through the NHL. It is the fact that networks such as CBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, even TVO, which used to be carried on the app, are no longer available on the app when not at home using the Fibe receiver.

There was no notification. There is no discount in price, even though the services is being offered are slimmer than they were before.

Again, these licensing issues are a Bell situation to manage. Customers should not be inconvenienced, or at least be forced to pay full price for the app, because Bell won't pursue licensing arrangements with those stations and networks, which they had done so previously.

You can add NTV, FOX, PBS, and MSnow to that list. The notice says you can only watch the stations on your home network. CBC is infuriating since their charter states that CBC should be available to all Canadians, everywhere in Canada.

Why am I allowed to watch CNN but not MSnow? Why is NTV, Newfoundlands Station, blocked? Why are all US stations blocked except for CNN?

I have already found out that if I record a program, that I wish to view, that is blocked, I can then watch it after the show finishes.

Thank you for your question. If I understand your post correctly, you may be attempting to do something which is not part of the Fibe TV subscription. You appear to be trying to watch Fibe TV channels in real time, away from the connection to your home network. Not all stations that you subscribe to are viewable when you are away from home. You can watch Fibe TV channels in real time if you are connected to your home network which is a Bell Internet connection or if you are using a mobile phone or tablet on the Bell Mobility network. You can also stream programs from Crave, Super Channel, Super Écran and Hollywood Suite in a mobile device or if connected to another wi-fi network. In addition, you can not join a Fibe TV program while it is being recorded, something which is possible on Bell Satellite TV. This is not related to any network mandate but related to the technical and contract limitations of Fibe TV. Those limitations and conditions are outlined here. Please see the Offer Details at the bottom of the page for the specific details.  It says, in part,

  • Select live and on demand channels/content from your Fibe TV subscription is available for viewing. More channels/content and features (e.g. TV control features) are available over Wi-Fi at your home with a Fibe Internet connection vs. with a third party Internet connection or outside your home. Mobile data charges may apply. Channels/content subject to change without notice and blackout periods may apply. Viewing live content with Google ChromecastTM, Apple TV (4th gen. or 4K box), Amazon Fire TV (basic edition or higher), Android TV (Google-certified) or AirPlay is only available within your home and a Bell Internet connection is required. Viewing on the Fibe TV app is available up to HD and picture quality may vary based on Internet speeds. Other conditions apply. Viewing live content with Google Chromecast, Apple TV (4th gen. or 4K box), AirPlay, Amazon Fire TV (basic edition or higher) or Android TV (Google-certified) is available within your home and out-of-home, with out of home limited to one stream at a time.

The point is that these services used to be available. They, without notice or warning or price reduction, they were removed.

I can almost understand the non-renewing of licenses for some US networks. But even CBC and TVO???
