The weather network not local on fibe tv

I just switched from Cogeco Cable to bell fibe tv and was surprised the  weather channel in fibe tv is not local as it was on Cogeco? I'm in Sarnia and the weather here is usually quite different to London,   KW and Toronto. A company as large and expensive as Bell should be able to have local  weather. Very disappointed. This would have likely swayed my decision to change providers as its one of the channels I rely on.

Hi there @Smokeyak,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the Community.
We would recommend checking out our article How to use The Weather Network app on Fibe TVOpens in a new tab or window. It will inform you how to access The Weather Network through the app or channel, as well as setting & saving a location.

Thanks for confirming @Rodenti .
Channel 505 and 1505 are different channels. Channel 505 is for Toronto and 1505 cycles through different regions.
As for the Weather Network application, this feature of auto-tuning to the weather network channel with the app on top is not available with the 7802. You will need to either use the stations available on the guide or download the Weather Network app from the Play Store. This feature ("Your current channel will be tuned to The Weather Network channel and the app will appear on top.") is for the older Fibe TV equipment.

Localized forecasts on The Weather Network are not available. Regional forecasts are available. There is an extensive thread about the app and TWN here.  See the replies with the green checkmark as most helpful.

Thanks, but I have the weather network APP  already. I would prefer the weather network tv STATION like I had with Cogeco that showed the weather in Sarnia. The bell weather network channel shows the weather in London KW and Toronto. So your comment is not helpful 🙁

Why doesn't the Weather Network give me local conditions. We live in Collingwood and get Toronto weather. When we were with Rogers, the Weather Network was local.

I live in Kitchener, Ontario.   We are in the top 10 largest cities in Canada.  When I watch the Weather Channel on Bell - why do I see every other city but Kitchener?   Please note - our weather on a daily basis is not the same as London, Hamilton or Toronto's.   I'd like to see Kitchener added to this line up.  Thank you!

I live in Cornwall. With Cogeco, we had local Cornwall weather. With Bell, we get Ottawa weather on channel 505. Ottawa is an hour north-west. Not the same weather at all!  This is Annoying!

Local weather for Kitchener, Waterloo, London & Toronto is on Fibe TV Station 505 .

How do I change my weather network to my town

On Fibe TV, Channel 1505 is The Weather Network - National Broadcast. Channel 505 will give you the local weather for your locale. This is mapped to the major municipalities surrounding you. E.g  Kitchener - London & vicinity are mapped to view the weather for Toronto, Kitchener, Waterloo, & London.

The closest you can get to your specific town's weather on Fibe TV will be what is showing up Channel 505.

You can not pick & choose your municipalities weather as you can on the web or on T.W.N. apps.

Yes, it does show the local weather for all those locations, but it cycles through all of them. On the cable platforms is shows exclusively local weather, with significantly more detail than we get now.

Why doesn't Bell offer this channel for each of the cities it services? If Rogers can offer it, then so can Bell.

I'm in Ottawa, and I don't care about the local weather for Kitchener, Waterloo, London & Toronto... but I see all of then on the tens whether I want to or not. I would really like to see the channel I had with Rogers with full details for my local area.

That’s one of the reasons why Bell is cheaper than Rogers lol

Hi@BellNick

I have the VIP7802 receiver and I can't get the solution you provided to work. I go into the apps page and select the weather network, but it doesn't work with the weather network channel as described:

"Your current channel will be tuned to The Weather Network channel and the app will appear on top."

In my case it only loads the app and didn't change to the channel with the app on top.

Hi there @Rodenti.

Do you have the Weather Network channel on your guide (channel 505 or 1505) or is it missing? if you have the channel, when you tune to it, does the app appear on top?

Looking forward to hearing back.

I have station 1505 but the weather app doesnt appear on the top.

Hi @BellNick,

Yes, I have the Weather Network on 1505, but there is no app on top.

I didn't realize the Weather Network was also on 505, and it looks like that one shows the local weather for Ottawa. Are they different channels, or am I seeing the app overlay on 505 but not on 1505?
