Good Day @TheBeesKnees & Welcome.
"All of your services are billed a month in advance." This is the reason why the billing period is shown as April-May.
For example, if your account was activated on March 1st and your bill is printed on the 7th, your first invoice will include charges from your installation date of March 1st - March 31st. In addition to your regular monthly charges which are billed one month in advance, your bill will include charges for your usage, rate plan and features from the date you activated or if changes were made to your account.
You can view your billing date on MyBell and as well on your monthly bill. This date will remain the same each month as part of your monthly billing cycle.
"Your first bill could include charges for service for almost two months."
- Your first bill will also include any service charges associated with the installation.
- Your second and later bills will only include your regular monthly charges plus any fees or changes that you make to your service.
Similarly, when you add, remove or cancel a service or feature in the middle of your billing period, Bell will automatically adjust the charges, so you only pay for the time you subscribed to the service. Typically, you will see a prorated adjustment within 1-2 billing cycles after making the change.
Thank you for reaching out to the Bell Community Forum.
Take care.

Hi @TheBeesKnees
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
If you are being billed for a full month into May when you cancelled April 10th, it's most likely that your cancellation fell within a short time of when the bill was sent. For example if you had internet for $90.00/month, your bill cycle is from April 1st - May 1st and your bill was sent out on April 5th, you would receive the full month of charges. Additionally, you will receive another bill in May which will reverse the charges that you were billed from April 10th - May 1st, due to your cancellation.
If you're only looking to pay what is owed, there's some math you can do to determine how much is actually owed. To do this you take your monthly charge, divide it by 30 (days in a cycle) and multiple it by how many days you had the service and then add the taxes. In the scenario above you would do 90 (cost) / 30 (days in cycle) x 10 (days you had service) = 30 (total cost for 10 days of service) x 1.13 (tax rate if you're in Ontario) = $33.90.
Please note that any limited time credits are only applied to full billing cycles and are not prorated.
Hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Community.
