VIP2502 receivers freeze after upgrading to Giga Hub 2.0

Since getting the new Giga Hub 2.0 Wifi 7 modem, my 2 wireless VIP2502 TV receivers freeze intermittently.

I never had an issue with the Home Hub 4000.

A technician came out and replaced the Giga Hub 2.0 with another one and I am still having the same problem. He actually suggested I get the new model wireless receivers. Seems ridiculous to me that I would have to pay for new wireless receivers.

is there a comparability problem with the Giga Hub 2.0 and VIP2502 wireless receivers?

Am I now going to have to get new model wireless receivers?

Can I go back to the Home Hub 4000?

Help!

Good Day & Welcome.

Thank you for posting your question.

I have a Giga Hub 2.0 modem. I also have the VIP5662w 4K Whole Home PVR along with 3 - VIP2502 receivers. I am not experiencing any compatibility issues.

On a Bell VIP 2502 wireless receiver there is a signal quality indicator. It uses green, amber (yellow), and red bars to indicate signal strength. Here is what each color indicates:

  • Green bars: Indicate a good signal strength from your wireless Access Point device. The more bars lit green (up to five), the stronger the signal.
  • Amber (Yellow) bars: Indicate low or weak signal strength. You may need to reposition the receiver for a better signal.
  • Red bars: Indicate an unusable or very poor connection. A red light on the receiver generally means there is no connection between the receiver and modem, and you will likely need to troubleshoot the connection or contact Bell Tech support.

To improve the signal strength on a VIP2502 wireless receiver, place the unit in an open area, away from other electronics and metal objects.

Is there a VAP3200 wireless access point installed? If so, have you tried repositioning it to see if this improves your signal strength.

Are there any other wireless devices in the vicinity that could be impeding receiver signal? Have you done a full power off /on by unplugging each of your VIP2502 receivers?

Have you tried to run the Bell Virtual Repair Tool? If you’re having trouble with your service, it detects and fixes most issues with Fibe Internet, Fibe TV, Fibe TV app and Home phone services.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Take care.

I have all green bars on both receivers.

1 receiver which freezes more than the other is only about 20 feet away from the Giga with a clear sight of view and no other electronics interfering.

As I said, I had a technician swap out the Giga for another Giga, same problem. He didn’t see a wireless issue either.

Nothing has changed other than the Giga.
