I just had Bell Fibe 1Gb internet and Fibe Tv with the new 4K Cloud PVR installed.
I notice when you boot or reboot the Fibe box, the Dolby Vision icon will display on my LG OLED tv. If I check the video display info on my Denon receiver it indicates it is receiving a Dolby Vision signal from the Fibe Tv box. This is for every channel and causes the picture to look very contrasty due to Dolby Vision being on all the time.
I can't find a setting to turn of or control HDR settings. I have an Nividia Shield 2019 model and there are options on it to disable HDR settings. This doesn't happen when I use the Fibe TV app on the Shield.
Please advise as this will potentially over time damage an OLED tv with burn in.
Thanks.

I just had a Bravia 9 TV installed today. I'm pulling my hair out to figure out how I can get Picture setting other than Dolby Vision. I'm gobsmacked that it appears the issue is related to the VP7802 and the new Android/Google TV interface.
I'll keep searching and probably call Bell Tech support eventually. Never had the problem with our old LG OLED tv that was 8 years old, but such is it.

After a boatload of trial and error I stumbled on settings within the Bravia 9 OS (Android/Google TV) that was forcing the VP7802 to Dolby Vision only. In the Bravia TV settings noted below I set the HDMI signal formats for the HDMI the VP7802 was connected to the TV to Standard format. Voila, the Bravia now allowed all of Sony’s picture modes. Ironically Dolby Vision was not one of them.
Quick Settings) button on the remote control, then select [Settings] — [Channels & Inputs] — [External inputs] — [HDMI signal format] — the HDMI input you want to set.
Follow the on-screen instructions and set the HDMI signal format for the HDMI input terminal to a suitable format below. Available HDMI signal formats depend on your model and the HDMI input.
- Standard format
- Enhanced format
Note: HDMI input from the VP7802 was originally set to Enhanced format and the only Picture format allowed was Dolby Vision.
I had tested the Sony TV with the FibeTV app installed on the Bravia. I was able to get the various picture options, so I knew it should be possible. In this situation I was using the internet connection (Ethernet) to the Bravia. When using the VP7802 I was connected to the TV via and HDMI connection.
Not sure if those with other TVs have setting options for HDMI inputs. If the TB’s OS does, this may be a place to look for a solution.
I’m not sure why an Enhanced Format for an external input should be limited to Dolby Vision. Doesn’t make sense to me.

I also spent quite some time to figure it out, because I’m a maniac when it comes to picture quality and I couldn’t stand this nonsense. It turns out the solution really is very counterintuitive. The solution is basically the same as GolferWayne with my LG C1 Oled, so let’s spread the good news to help as many people as possible.
Using my tv’s remote, I went into All settings, then General, then Devices, then HDMI settings, then HDMI Deep Color.
It was automatically set to 4K, which only allowed Dolby Vision (why…?). I set it up to Off, which disabled Dolby Vision and allowed me to use all my beloved picture settings like before.
Since this setting only applies to this specific HDMI ports, problem solved and whatever else you may have connected through another HDMI port will not be affected by this.
Now, why this VP7802 box forces Dolby Vision by default and nobody from Bell was able to help people with this in the last two years is another matter.

New Fibe customer, everything on my TCL QM8 is gorgeous except NHL Hockey in 4k on TSN and Sportsnet. Picture is very dark, ice looks glossy and shadowy regardless of picture settings. Is there any way to disable dolby vision so other picture modes can be accessed? I was very excited to get Fibe for 4k watching hockey and this has turned into a huge disappointment.

Good Day & Welcome
Thank you for posting your question. This a known issue with the TCL QM8 series of TVs.
To modify the audio and visual settings simply access the settings on your Fibe TV Box (press the button with nine dots beside the OK button on your remote) then Device settings. Once there select Only use standard dynamic range to disable the HDR output.
To resolve picture quality issues or to disable it, you can try to turn it off in your in your television's settings.
- E.g. Settings > Display & Sound > Picture > Adv. Settings > Motion > Motion Clarity > Turn this off
TCL support is aware of this issue. You may wish to contact TCL Support at: 1-877-300-8837 for further assistance. I have included the link to their support website: TCL Support
Please reference the suggestions provided by Reddit users below:

Hello All,
I stumbled on this forum and was also frustrated with the Dolby Vision enforcement on the Fibe HDMI input.
Based on what some said here, I went to look at the input settings for my tv (qm7k). I don’t know what my HDMI cable is truthfully (1.3, 1.4, etc) but I found the colour brightness with the hockey ice on TSN terrible. This worked for me or at least made it far more bearable. From my TCL TV setting:
settings > All Settings > Channels and Inputs > External Inputs > High Frame Rate Mode
I enabled this and now HDMI 2.1 is enforced for the HDMI Advanced Standard. This enabled me to choose the standard non-Dolby Vision picture modes.
This seemed to make the hockey colour and brightness quality better for me thankfully.
Good luck!

I don't know if an update as been pushed but mine stop displaying in Dolby vision.
I changed the HDMI compatibility mode of my tv from 2.1 to 1.4 and this has turn off Dolby vision and HDR which I thought was weird since HDMI 1.4 support HDR. The next day, I changed the setting back to auto for compatibility. I know the receiver has rebooted since I lost power last night. The Dolby vision or HDR hasn't been back. So my hypothesis is that it isn't linked to what I did but due to a receiver update.

My brother's vip7802 still displays everything in Dolby Vision and looks terrible. It's running the latest OS.
I grabbed a Bell streamer (the Bell-branded Android TV box) and, after an OS update to Android 12, everything is in being displayed in HDR which makes a lot of content look terrible. I was hoping the Streamer was safe from this forced HDR mode and regret updating the OS.
If there was a way to run stock Android TV or Google TV on either or both boxes, I would be much happier.

I just signed up for Fibe TV and am using the VIP7802 receiver sent to me by Bell since 4k channels are not working on Apple TV. For some reason, Dolby Vision is automatically enabled and causes inaccurate colours, crushed blacks, or overly bright washed-out images. It also increases the possibility of burn-in images on OLED screens like I have. The only solution I have found so far is to turn off HDMI Deep Color in my TV settings, but because I have other devices plugged into my Denon receiver, this disables HDR on all my other connected devices and it would be a pain to keep switching it on and off every time.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem on an LG C2?
