Sorry.... no can do! Bell modems are programmed & setup to recognize your account & services.

Do you own this equipment or was this left behind by another customer or Internet supplier?

If you are setting up a new internet account Bell will provide you with new equipment at that time.

Thank you for reaching out to the Bell Community Forum. Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Take care.

Can you elaborate & explain just what equipment you want to keep & why? “ Change my speed? I really like the ONT?”

Thank you.

Not sure what your talking about. This is my current equipment with an HH2000 and symmetrical gbit service. I've had this service and equipment for 10 years now. There's nothing wrong with it, it still works fine to this day. All I want is to keep the current setup and get my price lowered to what other people are paying.

Using the current modem and getting a lower price are two different things. If you like what you have, keep it. If you want to change your package to something with a lower cost, there is a good chance you will be upgraded to the Giga Hub and the ONT will be removed.

That would be a huge waste of resources. New modem cost, shipping, shipping of old equipment back which would just end up in the landfill. When all I'm asking for is to keep the same package equipment and lower the price to whit other people are paying. 135.60/mth is pretty excessive for interent only

If you give Bell a call I am sure they can provide you with a plan that matches your needs. Typically once you change your package you will automatically receive everything contained in that package, and that typically includes a new giga hub or home hub 3000.

I would talk to an agent using the live chat option, or give them a call at 1-877-560-8705 Internet access

I can’t speak to the why’s of Bell’s decisions. I just know that users are being migrated to the Giga Hub. Every user is different. I don’t know your speed tier, so I can’t comment on what you pay. Bell does offer discounts for multiple services, however. What you are paying right now is within range for internet in the higher tiers and depending on your location.

The main reason for keeping this equipment is it works flawlessly. It allows you to connect your router directly to ONT and bypass the HH2000 all together. I prefer configuring my own router that has more features than the Bell one. I've had this setup for approx 10 yrs now when fiber was initially installed here. There is no reason to upgrade equipment that already works perfectly and spend money needlessly when all I'm asking for is a break on the price that has consistently gone up to unsustainable amount on my fixed income. This is an exact screenshot of the change package section of my acct. Notice anything unusual about my current pkg. Even though there's an ongoing credit applied its still more than the higher tier package. I have no interest in bumping speed to 1.5gbit for the extra 500mbit. I don't need it 1g/1g works just fine. A simple additional credit to bring price down to a reasonable level will keep me as a customer. Otherwise I'm very close to taking my money elsewhere then they lose the whole amt.

There is an old expression which goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". That sounds sort of like where you are. At the same time, our experience suggests that if you open a conversation with Bell for a lower price point, they may make it conditional on an upgraded modem, the Giga Hub, which has an internal ONT. I can't be more specific than that, unfortunately. All you can do is ask. And if you are required to accept a new modem, that is again, your call.

Just one other thing to add to this conversation about the old equipment being fine. It's often easier for a Company to upgrade customer equipment even if it works great, simply because new equipment comes with new features that make it easier to manage and upgrade the companies equipment it's connected too.

Sometimes upgrading areas requires every customer in that area to have a certain minimum level of equipment in order to still be able to receive the service.

So keeping the old equipment that works fine today, might not always be the best choice in the long run as future area upgrades might be happening that would cause the older equipment not to work well anymore.

Just something to keep in mind, and even with the new hub you can use ADMZ mode to almost completely bypass the hub and use your own router. And with the HH 3000 you can remove the GPON and plug it directly into your own equipment and completely bypass the hub. It's what I have and my HH 3000 is in the box since I don't need it for internet access to the 1.5/1 plan.

This area had fiber under old Bell Aliant Fiberop before Toronto even had fiber. Its still GPON limited to 1.5gb and personally I don't think they will be upgrading anything here for many more years as there is no incentive to cause there is no competition to what they currently offer.
