Can't log in with wi-fi extender

I purchased a wi-fi extender some time ago. Had no problem with installation or connection. Recently upgraded to Fibe with the Giga Hub modem. I repeated the installation and you can see the extender on the network list. However when I try to log in any device, it keeps coming up with "wrong password". I can log in directly, but not through the extender. Am I missing some setting on the modem?

Just to let you know, it works now. After doing a factory reset, installing a firmware update and going through a setup I didn't have to do before I can now connect a device 😁

Is this a Bell pod, or third party extender?

It is third party. Worked fine with my previous modem but not the new one

They typically have a setup procedure to connect them to an existing network. Did you redo the setup on the extender?

It's already connected to my network. I can see it on the list. When I enter my existing wi-fi password, it says it's wrong. I can log in directly to my wi-fi but not through the extender.

How is this extender hooked up to the home hub?

The conventional way, connected through the WPS. All the LEDs on the extender are green, except for the device one because I can't log in. When I look at the available network list I see:

BELLxyz  my network

BELLxyz_2GEXT  2.4 GHz extender ch

BELLxyz_5GEXT  5 GHz extender ch

My wi-fi password does not work through the extender even though it is clearly connected to the hub. As I said previously, I did not have this problem before the change.

It would depend on the WiFi password of the extender. It will not use the same WiFi password as the Bell home hub.

It should have it's own WiFi password.

No, it does not. It uses my existing wi-fi password. That's how it worked with my previous modem, not this one.

What's the brand name and model # of the extender.

You might want to consult the manual: Manual

It would not be a bad idea to reset the extender to factory default and redo the setup.

I have done all that, including resetting multiple times. All I get is "Check password and try again"

Use the Netgear assistant to access it and follow the instructions as per page 12 of the manual.

You should be able to log in that way and set it up. You must have the wrong password somehow.

I can't do that because I can't connect to it. I only have 1 password
