Internal private VPN And Bell Fibe 3.0

Hi *,

I have been trying to create a VPN so I can connect to my internal network from outside my network with no luck. I purchased a TP Link ER 707 and have not been able to configure it. I contacted  TP Link support and we ran some traces with captures and never see any packets hitting the router.  I had called Bell Support in the past and asked them if they do any port blocking or use CGNAT .After glitching out they just told me they do not support any VPN configuration, basically following their script of a basic Internet working/not working flow chart.  I don't think port forwarding is being blocked because I am able to port forward and RDP to some Windows boxes externally and if CGNAT is used from what I read, then port fowarding would not be possible. I have even tried to put the VPN router on the DMZ and no luck. So, has anybody been able to configure internal VPN ? I have read that some people have had success by putting the modem in bridge mode but from what I have read, the latest hubs no longer support this option. I called Bell support to see if someone more knowledgeable was available and they told me for such questions, using the support forum would be the way to go. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your question. Bell modems do not support bridge mode. They do use a passthrough mode for PPPoE. In that case you enter your credentials in your device, plug it into the Giga Hub and go from there. Bell support is correct. Bell does not support VPN. However, this forum thread  may offer you some ideas. Look at the helpful replies, with the green checkmark, for some responses.

Bell does not support running servers on home internet plans.

You might want to look at something like Meshnet. However, the VPN portion is not free and requires subscription.
