When I turn off my tv using the remote, the modem turns off and I lose internet access. How can I turn off the tv and keep the modem on?

Where is the modem located in relation to the TV?r Are you using the Bell slim remote supplied with Five TV?

The modem should not be affected by any remote because, as far as I know, it has no IR receiver or Bluetooth capability.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum

As a starting point is this a new Bell FIbeTV Service or did your remote just stop working properly? Which modem do you have? Which receiver are you using? Bluetooth Slim Remote? Bluetooth Remote Kit?

Your modem should not be affected by any remote. It does not have IR or Bluetooth capability. Are you trying to use this remote on a different receiver? Are you trying to install the Bluetooth remote kit? If so, have you plugged it in to the USB port on the receiver.

  1. Have you tried rebooting the VIP 5662w HD PVR? to see if this makes a difference?
  2. Have you checked to see if you remote is paired to your PVR?
  3. Is your PVR configured correctly to your TV?
  4. Have you checked your remote control batteries?
  5. Have you recently changed your TV? Does your TV have an external device setup manager in your TV settings? If so, check your TV settings.

I have include a couple of web links that will walk you through a number of suggested ideas that may solve your remote control issue.

Your remote doesn't have any control over your modem. There's something else going on.

Are the modem and the tv on the same electrical circuit? Is the TV and the receiver controlled by the same remote (HDMI-CEC)?

We need more details on your setup, Otherwise it's guesswork rather than actual problem-solving imo.

The modem is right behind the TV. I am using the Fibe TV slim Bluetooth remote.
